It’s interesting how many extra steps there are to starting a diesel locomotive than a diesel truck

The sd45s four ale cusin. They SOUND JUST LIKE THE SD45!THEY HAVE 12 CYCLINDER 645E3C PRIME MOVERS IN THEM. THEY TOO ARE VERY RARE LOCOMOTIVES. I WISH I COULD AFFORD TO BUY THEM IN HO SCALE.

Yes, but you didn't open tge test cocks and roll it over first when you pulled the Low Oil button out. If there was any water in the cylinders, to crank it without opening the test-cocks, it would blow a hole in the pistons. Also check the oil on the dipstick and the water level in the sight glass. All that plus confirm the quality of the fuel sight glasses on the opposite side og the governor area than the start switch is. ONLY THEN, HIT START. Assist the crank-up by pressing in the Lay Shaft handle. I've done it thousands of times, to where I could do it in my sleep! THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO. It brought back fond memories!
