but sometimes us blokes need to be told how to think Peg!! 🤣🤣. This sounds like a really intriguing read. I honestly gave 'The Count of Monte Cristo' a good go. I managed to slog to almost half way through it Peg, but it was too much for me. I just couldn't get into it. Maybe I'm not clever enough to understand all the political shenanigans and the way it was written. oh well. As you say, not everyone's going to enjoy every book you cover. Anyhoo. I wish you and your family an incredible holidays and a spectacular new year. 👍👍👍👌👌👌😁😁😁🎄🎈🎉🎊🎁🎀

Read it recently and i couldn't guess until he mentioned mechanical skill. It was kinda heartbreaking tbh cuz the readers lose their trust over someone they thought they knew. Poor caroline. I'm still processing it. I want to but I'm not going to watch an adaptation of it cuz i heard they're pretty bad don't do justice to the novel. Good video btw 👍

I probably will not have time to read it but revenge is obviously best served cold in this case. Classic books are hard because one man's classuc isn't someone else's. I love the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy because it is so well written. Terry Pratchett's Discworld too. Still more a myth and magic girl at heart. You remember the Dark is rising books by Susan Cooper? A Classic as far as I am concerned, just ignore the americanised rubbish film they foolishly turned it in to. I will have to think if there are any publicly acknowledged classics I can recommend. Maybe check out the folio books to see if there's any there I know😄

So glad you mentioned the Susan Cooper series...I wish more people gave it a try..sadly it is usually found in the children's section but adults will enjoy it very much.

Happy hols Peg. Feliz Navidad as they say. I've attempted to read some of the classics over the years. Some more successfully than others. One more recent one I remember is 'To kill a mockingbird'. I quite enjoyed it, so I'll give this one an honest try. 'How to sell a haunted house' was interesting. At the commencement I didn't like Mike, and felt for Louise, but as the story unfolded, my opinion changed. i didn't see the revelation of the identity of the ghost coming, but understood why it had happened. C ya next week Peg.👍👍👍👌👌👌😁😁😁

First of all Peg. Many congrats on crossing the 300 subscriber mark. YAY!!! You deserve it. Although you're not too keen on this book, I'll still give it a read and give you my honest opinion as I always do. Having read 'Horns', I felt real sorry for Ig. It's a blessing and a curse for him. I'm glad he found out who murdered Merrin and dealt with the situation, although I'm only 90% the way through yet, due to other commitments. No. I hadn't worked it out. I'm not as clever as you. This book wasn't as great for me, but I enjoyed most of it. Personally I prefer not to discover the culprit until near the conclusion, and I occasionally got lost as is was a bit back and forth. Oh well. One part that gave me a lump in my throat was Merrin's letter to Ig. That was emotional. Thanks Peg. Keep up the great work. And happy hols to you, Michael and all your many fans. 👍👍👍👌👌👌😃😃😃

I hated the ending. Nobody on earth will like the ending. I am so frustrated and disappointed. I read a book after a very long time and it took me almost 1 month to complete it.. and now I feel like wasted my time. I want a written apology from the author.

Hhmm. That sounds really interesting Peg. I suppose it would be a blessing, and a curse to be like Ig. On the one hand, you'd know when people weren't being straight with you, which is a positive, and then, knowing the secrets of so many would be a terrible mental stress. Everybody has their secrets to a greater or lesser extent. In the lives of puppets was a very good read. I see what you meant by family is what you make it. So true. 👍👍👍👌👌👌😁😁😁

Finished reading it just now. It was good! This is very much in the fashion of M R James stories. Sort of a predictable ending, and left me wanting for more of an occult thriller twist, but what I got was not bad at all. I've got to remind myself that sometimes less is more. 7/10 from me.

Thank you Peg. for another great narrative. I've recommended this channel to a very dear friend of mine and she's promised to subscribe and recommend you to her family and friends. I agree with what you say about family. You can family anywhere. Sometimes in the least expected of places. As for Gwendolen, I don't think she's bad. Just misunderstood. I did enjoy this book and didn't see the twist coming. I didn't used to read half so many books until your wonderful channel came up on my recommended list. Keep 'em comin' Peg.👍👍👍👌👌👌😁😁😁

Yeah Peg. I agree with you. Children's book are easier to read and just turn your brain off for a while. I don't know about you, but I certainly wouldn't have minded having Gwendoline's powers when I was growing up. Well, for a debut novel, Soul Forge was an excellent 1st book!! I had to force myself to put it down occasionally. My heart was in my mouth a lot of the time, especially when they were battling their foes. It was great to see how Elda progressed throughout and how she brought the soul forge around. I eagerly await her follow up. Boy. What a cliffhanger!!??👍👍👍👌👌👌😁😁😁

OOh! This sounds like the kind of genre I will DEFFO enjoy reading Peg. I remember going to the Horniman with you and your siblings. You always loved it. It's a great day out. I owe you an apology Peg. In last week's comments, I said that you would really defend the library, but having read the book, I revise that statement. You would never support an establishment that treated their citizens in such a manner. Having said that, I liked it. As you read the story you really root for all the Students. I shall be reading the rest in the series (when I get round to it). Cheers Peg. 👍👍👍👌👌👌😁😁😁

First of all, I know it's more than a bit late, but my heartfelt condolences go out to Miss Caine's loved ones. Knowing you as I do Peg, I know you'd defend and protect the library and it's contents with your life. I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree with you a bit about last week's book, The book of accidents. I found it truly intriguing. It was one of those books you get occasionally that I found I was reluctant to put down, even to eat, drink, sleep etc. The story had me gripped from commencement to conclusion. Mind you I'm just a simple fellow and don't have the insight that you do to see beneath the storyline and characters. 👍👍👍👌👌👌😁😁😁

Avoid anything written by Jack Ketchum. Not everything that is told in the book is true. Jack Ketchum exaggerated and made many things up in his own head. For example, he added more and nastier sexual violence than actually happened. A sane person doesn't invent such things and add them to the story of a real murdered child. The book is more a fantasy of a sick person than a description of a real event. Sylvia Likens was real person who was brutally abused and killed. Her fate didn't deserve to be turned into torture porn novel.

Thanks Peg. We can always rely on you to give an honest review. I've had several books where, after giving it an honest try, I just couldn't read any more, for whatever reason. I like it when you say, "only 100 pages or so." 😂. I found 'Red or dead was a delightful read. Although living forever initially sounds nice, I would hate the thought of continually watching my loved ones pass away and constantly having to move around and reinvent myself. I'm really glad Red had friends who just accepted her as she was and aided her in navigating her new situation. I look forward to next week. 👍👍👍👌👌👌😁😁😁

I remember you purchasing 'Rivers of London' for me Peg. and I really enjoyed that. It's always great when you read a book and you can recognise places in it. Living on the Wirral, I'm looking forward to this one. Tom's midnight garden was a delightful read. Wouldn't it be lovely to have a place like that to go to to escape the real world for a while? I was actually quite chuffed with myself because I figured out the identity of Hatty before the end. Thank you for another delightfully informative narrative. 👍👍👍👌👌👌😁😁😁

I don't know Peg. but this story sounds vaguely familiar 🤔. I'll give it a read though, and I concur with your sentiment that even though a book is aimed at a certain demographic, it doesn't mean only that group can read it. 'All the light we cannot see ' was not a book I would ordinarily read, although I can appreciate the stresses, horrors and challenges of those who had to endure the war went through, particularly If they had a disability of some kind. I admired the way Marie dealt with her situation, and all those who aided the resistance effort. Also the fact that people were continually unsure who they could trust. It makes me appreciate when and where I live. 👍👍👍👌👌👌😁😁😁

I liked how everyone underestimated Odge, only to be proven wrong in their assumptions of her. What a great team they made?! They all worked really great together. I think in life, everyone in a team has their qualities and is a valuable part of said team. This was a delightful read and I shall be reading the others in the series at some point. 👌👌👍👍😁😁

Well Peg. I think I like this book already. My reading of 'What you are looking for is in the library' left me feeling in a good mood. It's a delightful series of stories that help us see that sometimes our lives don't necessarily end up going in the direction we imagined. That something we may read, or someone we may come into contact with may end up with us being a better person because of that contact. I liked how one story would refer to someone in another story. My 'go to' books would be 'The story of Sir Benfro' series, or Watership down, Hunter's moon or Frost dancers, a story of hares. 👌👌👌👍👍👍😁😁😁

Thanks Peg. I like the way you can review a book but keep us wanting to read it. When I've read this one, I'll either put, "Yes" or "No". I read last week's book. It was such a shame that because of the horrific way he lost other people he loved, he ended up overprotective of his daughter, and did the things he did, not that I'm condoning the way he treated her. It was a very good read. 👌👌👌👍👍👍😁😁😁

Great review! 🙂Recently, my friend and fellow author handpicked FOURTH WING for me to read and review. While I suspect his choice was partly in jest, there was also a genuine curiosity about whether this book and series lived up to all the hype, and sadly, it did not. In any sense, here are my top picks of the year so far: 1. A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire by Jennifer Armentrout 2. Sex God: Uriel by F. Simmons
@AndyContento-q8v4 ай бұрын
I completely concur with your sentiments Peg. Even though I haven't seen my children in a long time, I still worry about them and love them unconditionally. Any decent parent does, but there is worrying about them, and going over the top. What Mr. Cave is doing to his daughter sounds very much like coercive control, and that is all kinds of wrong on so many levels!! I think what Mr. Cave is trying to do is excuse his appalling actions. Anyhoo. I did read 'The midnight library', and really enjoyed it. I also enjoyed 'The ballad of songbirds and snakes'. It's sad about all that happened between Corelianus? and Lucy grey. Some people just can't be happy with what they have, although I'm very glad the hunger games are purely fictional. Looking forward to next weeks narrative. 👌👌👌👍👍👍😁😁😁
