Lionel O-gauge trestles, Rail King trestles, and under the edges there are simple foam blocks with a sheet of fake snow draped over (see links below). Thank you for the comments. We construct them all ourselves and the kids have a blast paining them. Base is large pink insulation board, followed by large foam blocks glued together (see link). From there, we cut with hot foam knife, and re-glue the cut pieces back to the mountain. We construct the stairs and other platforms separately via the same process and hot glue on. Paint is simple cheap wall paint. We paint the entire structure black to begin, then layer in burnt umber, tan, and lightly brush white on the pointed parts for the snow effect. Set the houses on, hide the cords, and place several Dept. 56 sisal trees directly into the foam. Dust with fake snow. Check out our other videos to see some of the other mountain scenes.
