The Yamaha bag wins by miles. You ALWAYS need extra space for things. Their hardware isn’t the most traditional looking stuff, but if you can get over that it’s rock bloody solid. Haven’t found a single fault with it.

Nice job Nate. The Tama cymbal stands are pretty much an exact copy of the old school Ludwig 1400 series flat base stands of the 1960s-1970s (of which i still have several!). Also, the Tama bass drum pedal is a copy of the old Rogers Swivo-Matic pedal except with an updated chain drive. I find that the Yamaha snare stand tends to bounce too much and "walks" when playing a heavier backbeat gig (but is OK on a less hard-hitting gig). Just a tip: for windy outdoor gigs, I keep a set of ankle weights in my trunk and secure them (with their built in velcro straps) to the bottom of the cymbals stand bases. Works great!

does a Yamaha snare stand fit a 12 inch snare?

I don't have a 12" snare to try but if it can hold a 12" Tom, which it can, you should be good to go with a bit of adjustment.

Biggest mistake on the Yamaha was not making those HH legs swivel. Very simple design that would have doubled if not tripled their sales on that HH stand. I used all the the rest of the crosstown stuff (and LOVE it) but have to still use a regular HH stand. Never should have been.

Nice. Having used both I kept the Tama stuff. I found the Yamaha looks to be not my taste plus I tired of using the sleeves to stop them scratching in the bag. I have had zero problems with the threading on the the Tamas.

Back in 1974, when I was 16, I heard this tune for the first time. I was obsessed with it, trying to learn it. I wish i had this video back then. This is a spectacular job on a very unusual Genesis tune. This is more like King Crimson or Mahavishnu. One of the more complex tunes you will ever do, and you nailed it!

I know this is focused on tbe cumbals. And wow they are aweome. Dude. Long story. I olayed 20 plus years and stopped 16 years and JUST got a little starter kit. I need a kick pedal bad. The kit was a gift from my daughter. So i had taken up guitar in 2018 as missed music and needed something always wanted to learn. But i missed drums bad. She suprised me xmas day. The kick pedal is dead. Stock ddrum d2r kit. Huge downgrade my last kit was a massive pearl All birch shell series i cannot remember the father line but they were expensive back then for the 5 piece and i had a set of racks to go along to complete it. The bass drum was massive. I cannot remember the actual size. Thats embarrassing for me. Anyway. I have a long way to go to get back but you sound great and i think thats about where i was as tuning my kit sounded very close as well. I used a mix of cymbal brands. I never really followed one specific brand. I bought what i liked the sound of. Anyway. I need to wheel and deal for a kick. Then a decent used set of cymbals. Then heads. Then mics which i never had mics before but i am recording a bit learning lately with guitar. Anyway cool. Love that snare with the reverb omg!!!

I bought a 19" Evolution about a year ago. Quite possibly the loudest crash I've ever played. Hard to believe it was designed with Dave Weckyl in mind, as it seems a bit primitive. Was pretty disappointed, honestly. Unless you're playing arenas, I wouldn't recommend it.

Sounds and looks like the Artisan line. Great demo of these cymbals. Since I have Evolutions it was a good comparison. It was a toss up between this complex set and the legacy set. Think this helped me decide to go complex. Question: what snare head are you using? Sounds good

Glad I could help you Ryan! The Legacy line is awesome too. I'm currently curious to see how the Artisan line would work with these Complex ones now. In the video I was using an Evans Black Hydraulic head on the Mapex Wraith. Really cool sound! But currently I run an Evans Heavyweight ( what comes equipped on the snare initially ) Also very curious about the new Heavyweight Dry heads. Thanks for the comment Ryan, good luck on your cymbal hunt!
