Hello, I hope you are doing well. I appreciate your videos and I am a big fan of the d5-push you recommend against 3...c5 in another video. I'm under the impression that 3...h6 is the most annoying line and would like to know if you have a video on it or a line you recommend to investigate? It seems 4. Bxf5 Qxf6 5. e4 d6 6. c3 Nd7 7.a4!? is the way to go but I'm not completely convinced. I'm around 2k fide and believe it could be a great weapon in my arsenal if I find something spicy :D Have a nice weekend!

Actually Black's ...Bg4 is called the Capablanca System as he introduced the idea back in 1925.
@GMJoseGonzalezАй бұрын
Thanx for pointing it out. Sometimes I have the impression that Nimzowitsch and Capablanca are the fathers of all the openings. How many opening variants are named after Nimzowitsch? Best regards!

Very nice video, thanks. For those of us who are older and have trouble remembering some of these variations, another way to avoid the Fried Liver is with 1 e4 e5 2 Nf3 d6 3 Bc4 Be7.

You are right! While the didactic value of the complications starting after 3.Bc4 Nf6 is undeniable, from a practical point of view 3...Be7 is better. Just playing simple chess! Best wishes and thanx for your comment!

Wow, what an intense battle! 😮 The strategic depth in such a short game is incredible. What did you all think of Gelfand’s and Yusupov’s approach in this sharp Orthodox line? Do you agree with the organizer's decision to fine them for drawing before move 30, or was the brilliance of the game enough to justify it? Let’s dive into the discussion! 🔥♟

I like this very much. The ideas are useful and once you explain them they are very clear. I also like that you illustrated these ideas with a game of Gary Kasparov. Nobody writes books and courses on the great strategies of Gary Kasparov but they should. Gary Kasparov was a great master of strategy as this game illustrates and as many other games illustrate.
@GMJoseGonzalez2 ай бұрын
Hey there, what a great idea A middlegame manual based on Kasparov's games sounds attractive indeed. The interesting fact is that we often think about Kasparov as an aggressive player, but he was (is) also a great strategical player. With a great technique! Thanks for the good vibes!

Impressive examples! I'm pretty sure we can use these nasty tricks in some of our games, too! Thanks!! I play myself the Ponizani opening (at 9:14) many times in my games and this pawn promotion occurs quite often after the blunder 6...d6 (very common in beginers and intermediate players). There's also an iteresting pawn promotion in another line of the Ponziani with: 8...dxe5 (instead of 8...Qb6) 9.Nxb7+ Bd7 10.Qxd7+ Qxd7 11.bxa8=Q+ Nc8 12.Qxc8+Ke7 (the black queen is pinned by the bishop on b5) 13.Qxd7 gaining the black queen and the game.

I usually prefer to play 4.Ne2 instead of Nf3, so as not to block the posibility of playing f4-f5 in the future. Also, from e2, the knight can jump later to g3, opening the diagonal d1-h5 for the queen. If we play the right moves, we have both bishops pointing to the black short castle, the queen can go to h5 or g4 so we have a strong attack on the king side. However, I see in lichess that 4.Ne2 is very rarely played but I don't see anything bad with this move. What do you think about the idea of 4.Ne2? Also, instead of 6.O-O, what do you think about the move 6.a3? With this we avoid the line 6...cxd4 7.cxd4 Nb4 attacking our bishop on d3 (Perdona si mis comentarios se hacen muy pesados, pero rara vez encuentro alguien con quien poder discutir esta linea con 3.Ad3 contra la francesa)
