I never was the biggest discus fan. They aren’t the most motile of fish. But your 3 look stunning. The red is better than some marine fish.
@tfcwithme21 сағат бұрын
@@Whaleydavey Believe it or not, I never liked them before either! I always thought they were boring fish! Lol. But their colorations are beautiful, and they are simply stunning fish! If you watch some older videos on @thefishcorner's channel, ICE had some beautiful bluish coloration. I'm not sure why it faded, lol.
@Whaleydavey13 сағат бұрын
@ That’s why I prefer cichids and saltwater fish, they are like a pet dog, they have more personality. but I can see why people love discus, for many other reasons.
@Whaleydavey22 сағат бұрын
1300g looking better all the time. How did you all attach the heavy logs to the cinder blocks? With screws! Will they eventually rust and possibly pollute the water. I guess with such a huge volume of water and occasional water changes - a little rust isn’t going to do much.
@tfcwithme21 сағат бұрын
Thank you! Btw, He used stainless steel screws! 🙂
@Whaleydavey13 сағат бұрын
@ Yep, that would do the trick. Stainless steel will eventually rust but much more slowly than normal steel, but it shouldn’t be a problem due to the huge size of the tank and regular water changes diluting out the iron oxide.

@DiscusNT10 күн бұрын
Congrats of the Discus progress, I think the brown one is your female, but that's just my best guess as I didn't see them lay the eggs and you can never be 100% until you do. 1st thing to point out, you can see the fry are trying to attach to your black silicone, they are attracted to black natrually as they think your black silicone strip is their parents by mistake. They should be attaching to the parents like that instead, if they do not figure out this confusion and they often do not, they will starve to death in a few days. As for the popeye, your not doing anything wrong, I am not here to insult or harp on anyone. Discus do not deal with freefloating bacteria in the water colum very well, this is not an issue for most other species of fish, but it IS a big problem for DIscus. It normally shows up as cloudy eyes ( sometimes suttle cloudy eyes), as things get worse you may even see popeye. I discuss this at lenth on my channel, check out my video on " The SECRET to keeping DIscus ALIVE" . The short answer is you need a UV unit 13 watts or higher on the bulb, and you need to run it 24/7 to keep your water colum free floating bacteria clean. All tanks have such bacteria, 98% of species will never be bothered by it, but Discus will be. Hope this helps, have a great day.

I agree 100%. For Cleveland’s first attempt at a homemade plywood aquarium - it is the best looking plywood aquarium I have ever seen on KZbin. The only thing that would make it better IMO was using aqua blue and black paint. My favourite tank is the saltwater predator. The way you got a giant grouper, moray eel and lion fish to live peaceably together is awesome.
