I read he went back to school after he stopped performing and graduated studies history and psychology. Sad that he had those rough time.

Amazing History 📚🎶✨ if you try to research hambone dance and song your going to get a white person culturally appropriated version 🤬 i love videos like this that shows the African American origins🕺🏿🥁🪕🍶

Mr. Flemons, I want to thank you for this. In the song 'Alabama Jubilee' the opening line of the lyrics is 'You ought to see Mister Jones when he rattles the bones . . . ' and I had no clue as to what the 'bones' were. Of course, we all know that 'the 'bone' often refers to the trombone, but you certainly don't rattle a trombone. I had heard somewhere that the term might also be used for drums, but I never could place that with any authority. So, I did a search for 'rattling the bones' and it eventually led me to this video. Now I know what the bones are, and I'd like to thank you for expanding my musical education. Thank you.

Beautifully done. I had the good fortune of having a conversation with Freeman back in October. He's still sharp and still working. Hang in there, Freeman!

I'm 72 and have 2 sets of bones that my Great Grandfather used to play. I would love to learn how to play them. Maybe I will now that I found your videos.

Had the privilege of meeting them years ago when they stayed at my friend’s house in DC on their way to NY to get their Grammy. They are so talented but such down to earth wonderful people. Will always remember Dom on the bones while we were playing on. He probably thought we sucked (because we did).
