We hope this message finds you well. On behalf of the Cooperative Bank of Oromia (Coopbank), one of the leading financial institutions in Ethiopia that, Coopbank want to work with Agri-business facility for Africa, However, as we assessed from the list of country eligible (Regional Breakdown of Projects MGF 1st & 2nd Call (ABF & MOVE/ComCashew)) Ethiopia country which is known in agri-business with favorable climatic condition is not present. Therefore, How can we adjust or include Ethiopia country in this project program and work with Coopbank as a strategic partner? Coop Bank is a leading financial institution and works with more than 90% of individual farmers and 75% of cooperative societies engaged in argi-business. We look forward to the possibility of working together to drive financial inclusion and digital transformation in the Ethiopian agricultural sector. Best regards, Lelisa Diriba from Ethiopia, [email protected]

You indicated that your spacing of 0.75 X 0.25 gave you 53 300 plants and therefore planting holes. You also said you bought 4 bags of NPK and 2 bags of UREA fertilizers. You indicated that you apply 2 beercups or 8 g of fertilizer ( of each type) per planting hole. If you multiply 8 g by 53 300 you will get 426 400 g which equals 8.528 bags ( 426 400g /50 000g ) of NPK . Likewise 2 bags UREA = 2 X 50 000g = 100 000g . At 8g per planting hole you need another 8.528 bags of UREA and yet you had 2 bags only. This doesn't seem to add up. CAN YOU EXPLAIN!! Alpha from MALAWI.

3500 kg of Maize per hectare isn't good yield. Depending on the seed variety, weed control, application of correct quantities of both Basal dressing fertilizer (NPK), top dressing fertilizer (Urea) and receiving the correct amount of rainfall and weed control, 1 hectare should give you over 9000 kg of Maize.

Thank you very much for your observation. Indeed, maize yield, especially hybrid maize yield, can reach much higher yields. However, maize yield is affected by many factors like agroecological zone, but also on the applied good agricultural practices e.g. rainfed or irrigated, type of irrigation, type and amount of fertilizer being used, planting density and planting in rows, as well as the variety. Kindly note that the information given in the video applies specifically for Ghana and here observations showed that yields around 3.5 t/ha were more realistic before 2018. Nowadays, much higher yields can be expected.

This 3500kg per hectare sounds a bit poor. Does it mean u used opv or hybrid. Alot of hybrids claim u can harvest more than 6000 kg
