No wonder this was LOVE at first hearing... did not know until I scrolled through some of the comments below that this was tied in with Hawkwind. My favorite 2 songs by them being an amalgam of Assault & Battery, giving way seamlessly into The Golden Void!

Fantastic piece of music..no matter what it is compared vith..I have been lookng for this track since 2014, but I never found it since then. Thanks to Bryan for uploading. Farflung and White Hills are the two best space-rock groups since the Hawkvind-era in my book..

It's listed on the Thunderbolt 88 CD - are you sayin it's not on it though? That it's just the same as 'In the beginning'? Well even if it is, it would still be missing Side 3, 'Sound..Shouldn't..Improvise...'......crazy.

Love this so much for so long. Friends & Relations volumes 3 for the original cut release, but this extended version isn't on The Best Of Friends & Relations Volume 3

This sounds like Tim Blake to me. Very New Jerusalemish...I thought Blake was involved with Hawkwind for a small time around the time Ginger Baker was but not 100% sure. So I checked & he definitely was. There's even a video uploaded called "Tim Blake with Hawkwind' I discovered in checking.

As a massive Hawkwind fan, I just wanted to say thankyou so much for posting this .. I remember seeing Simon for the first time with Hawkwind when they played assault and battery/ golden void ,.. Simon's violin just added another amazin dimension to an already amazin song !! thanks again.

Thanks for bringing this to my attenzion Bryan, dunno how it passed me by,,,,,,,,,, but I suspect it was around the same time I went to an ex-akwind gig at Hastings community centre featuring Simon House, Alan Davey (who didn't have time to chat), and Harvey Palebridge who did have time to chat, lovely geezer was he. Can't remember who else was playing though as I was smoking some very nice stuff with some head who'd just got back from Nepal!

It's almost like it was the first time they took acid individually and collectively. So, they drop the acid, and the band starts playing some country and western stuff. All of a sudden at around 1.20, they start to peak and out comes the Hawkwind we all know and love. Then at around the 6 minute mark the acid starts to wear off and they go back into this C&W groove. Amazing stuff!! Thank goodness they dropped a ton of acid or Hawkwind might of ended up becoming a late 60s version of Hayseed Dixie! Yeehhhawww 🙃
