Great tips so thanks for the video! I've drained my water heater (only three years old) every year but this time, it wouldn't drain initially. I tried your tip of just leaving the incoming water on to push any sediment out (I usually just turn the water off first) and it worked. I was able to drain and flush it a few times but it stopped draining the last time I tried to flush it so maybe something just got stuck. Didn't want to take any chances and just closed everything up and filled the tank back up because if the boss (my wife) gets home there isn't any hot water for her to shower then I'll be looking up videos on how to get out of the dog house. I'll try draining it again next time around and hopefully the water volume and pressure from the incoming water will help flush it out again.

Have had the Rheem (self-installed) for going on 5 years. Have had a couple issues (bad thermistors) but one call to Rheem and I get replacement parts and instructions delivered to my door in a couple days. Have not ran out of hot water so far. It is also a 50 gallon tank and just a bit taller, not like the behemoth in this video. All in for approximately $1500. Major reduction in electricity used.

Lmfao, unless in a commercial application and plans spec’d conduit typically would just use MC cable, who the hell would run conduit for a water heater in a residential building … been in the commercial trade for 15 years and never saw that. I call BS

My 20 year-old GE water tank just gave out. 😭I’ve read horrible comments about Rheem and AO that I just don’t know where to turn to. What else is there besides Rheem and AO? They seem to have a monopoly on the water heater market.

There's quicker way, Siphon the water out. Get a hose that will fit into the top of tank, push it all the way down into the tank, then place your tumb on the end of the hose and pull it out into the tolit or bathtub. or a bucket and let go of the end of the hose and water should start flowing out. Done and done.

@@diesellozano7874 In the first minute of the video he states: Cost $2200 but you can buy around $1600 Dedicated electrical 240V, but you can buy 120v Dedicated elec costs $2000, but not needed and $2000 is crazy amount Needs to explain when these units can be installed and be cost effective, because in the right environment they work extremely well and can save you money. We have the NPE-180A2 with built in recirc pump . Currently using the intelligent recirc mode which worked great when I was working as showers etc were consistent. Now that I am retired I think the day program would be better. You had that one set between 5a.m and 10p.m, how long does the pump recirc the hot water, how much does it run lets say per hour? Thank you and very good video!

After weeks of research, I found the best solution. Some Navien water heaters don't have the internal pump. Plus if you don't have the dedicated recirculation line, you have to buy the NaviCirc valve. This pump from Xylem (ACT E10 autocirc) I mounted under my kitchen sink. Has the DIY fittings. Took me less than 10 minutes to install. Includes a timer and auto shut off when the temp is reached. So quiet. Now I have hot water in a few seconds instead of a few minutes! Great solution!!

Im installing an 83 gallon heat pump wh with the condenser outside. It runs at 150° with a tempering valve effectively making it more like a 100 gallon tank. It runs on a 240V 15 amp breaker. Buy in was 4k. Energy star projection is 150 bucks a year to operate.

Christmas Day 2024 no hot water again. Rheem sent part, yes on hold for one hour fifteen minutes. Rheem recommended FastPlumbing, don’t use them. Charged 225 to come out $382 for job. Next day no hot water. Called Fast Plumbing was told it would be $145 to come out again. “You had hot water when he left”. Long story but trust if the pilot assembly goes out, it goes OUT. Once you use a match the fire does not use the match to stay lit. Anyway I have taken it apart cleaned the filter and screen over the burner. I am certain I brought a few days of hot water. Ultimately it’s still under warranty, but I’m not gonna hassle with Rheem or Home Depot, because I don’t want another Rheem water heater. I’ve been with Home Depot for 22 years. I will let them know my thoughts on their water heater choice. The service sucks and their staff was horrible. The plumber they sent probably had never went to plumber school. I’m certain he’s not a certified plumber. The moral of this is because I worked hard and I can afford to buy another water heater, but more importantly I can afford to pay somebody to do a job that I expect him to do well! My father would have tried to fix it himself. Should have paid attention to my history!!

using heat pump only its 20% the price of gas and 10% the price of electricity... time it to come on during cheap times, if you run out of water get the bigger tank, if you still run out because it take 5 hours to reheat, buy a buffer tank (jacketed insulated storage tank or use your old water heater and well insulate it and dont attched to gas/electricity and then get a circulating pump) its cheap to make hot water with the heat pump.. so your not losing much if you need to heat more of it. 300 watts to run it in heat pump mode, want more vent it... my computer uses more.., the humm is barely noticable unless your putting in your living room or bedroom.. does your fridge noise bother you that much? then you need to buy an ice box. get into the now, these are the futurewater heaterwater heater

The shaft length on my original plastic valve measures about 2-1/2” without threads, about 3” including threads. I ordered the 2” metal shaft as video suggests. Fortunately, the hardware store was out of stock and I bought the 2-1/2” instead as substitute. I got lucky. Anyone who doesn’t know if they have the short or long plastic shaft upfront may want to consider ordering a longer shaft just in case as long as you have room for it on the outside.

Where is the shut off valve for a Rheem electric water heater?
@anthonys6187
@anthonys6187 Ай бұрын
What if your electric water heater supply lines are copper all the way, I don’t have the flex hoses to bleed air out, I’m trying to change the heating elements but the tank won’t drain, I turn the main on to push sediment and my street is filled with water but when I shut it off the hose is one of the expandable hoses and the hose just shrinks up and nothing drains, I do have that 45ed crappy plastic drain as well
