Might have missed it but why do you sometimes add “!@someday” to your filters?
@_AnthonyGauna6 күн бұрын
I use a @someday label for tasks that I want to perhaps do one day. Since I don't want those tasks to show up in other filters, I use !@someday to make sure those do not show in those filters. I then have a filter that only shows me tasks with @someday and I usually review it 1-2 months just to see if there is anything I do want to work on or decide I don't want to anymore. Hope that helps!

I get stressed by just looking how many different favorite filters you have...
@_AnthonyGauna8 күн бұрын
🤣 LOL. Yeah, I totally understand it's overkill, but it's what works for me. Over time I've just learned that having more filters with less tasks is what keeps me from feeling less stressed.

"I don't want to bore you." I actually find it really helpful to not only hear things explained, but to see how someone uses a tool. So if at any point you feel comfortable taking us through a planing session where you basically say out loud what you're thinking and what you're doing, that would be super interesting.

How do I set a recurring deadline? For example my Visa credit card bill is due on the 15th of each month and I want the day recurring on the 5th every month because the period ends on the 4th so the 5th is the earliest I can pay it

Just wanted to say I love the vibe of your channel. Feels like classic KZbin. Just a guy sharing something he is interested in that he thinks others might benefit from. Not overly edited, not overly sensational. Good stuff! Keep it up. Best wishes on your KZbin journey!

Anthony, it appeared to me that you were reading out my biography 😀. I tried Todoist amongst various other apps, got frustrated and got back to Todoist. To me, it’s almost no frill app, clean interface but potentially a lot customisable to suit one’s personal preferences.

Please keep making these videos, these are much more useful than the basic ones of how to sign up and add tasks to the inbox etc. Your use of labels to organise your Today view is how I use it too. Love how you highlighted using keyboard shortcuts, I do it on some commands like shifting between lists, calendar and kanban, but this has inspired me to start using shortcuts much more extensively. Keep these coming!
@_AnthonyGaunaАй бұрын
Thank you so much for letting me know! When I set out to make this specific video, I knew I wanted it to be more than the basic videos. And I also didn't want it to be too advanced where it wasn't even accessible to people. So glad something resonated with you. When you use the question mark keyboard shortcut it pulls up all their shortcuts. So if you ever forget some or you want to learn one for a thing you do a lot, it's so helpful. Reach out if you ever have a topic you'd like me to expand on. If I have any knowledge of it, I'm happy to make one.

As photographer I do struggle with using a todo app. Tried Todoist, TickTick, Calenders5, Sorted, Structure then Todoist again, then simple Apple Cal and Reminders. I guess my problem is that I forget to write tasks down and then follow them :-)
@_AnthonyGaunaАй бұрын
Yeah, that was me in the beginning. Once I learned that if I didn't write something down or add an event to my calendar I would forget, I realized I needed to make sure it was as easy as possible for me to write those things down.

Hey! I recently discovered your channel and binge-watched some of your videos-they're great! I recently realized that I struggle with ADHD (I'm 24), and I've always wanted to establish a productivity system and develop more consistent life routines since I was around 18. But I’ve never been able to stick with it. My pattern is that I always start a new system, feel great about it for a few days, but then I get overwhelmed by university or life deadlines, stop using the system for a bit, and end up losing track of it altogether. I totally agree with you about the importance of deadlines for getting things done. I've found it hard to set them for myself since I respond better to external deadlines, and things just get more overwhelming as time goes on. The point is, I really want to focus on sticking to a system like this and committing to it once and for all. It's so inspiring to see how a creator with ADHD handles these challenges, especially since most 'productivity creators' I've followed don't have this perspective.
@_AnthonyGaunaАй бұрын
First off, I appreciate your kind words and your time. Thank you for sharing this, btw. This is a great idea for another video. What I will say is that for me, it came down to not beating myself. I had to be kind to myself. I recognized that I will fall off routines from time to time and that it's ok. And when I tried out new systems and they didn't end up working for me, I tried to figure out why it didn't work for me. I had to learn from it so that I could keep iterating and creating a system that worked for me. I made this video because I wanted show that I'm not perfect and that I needed to create fake deadlines for myself in order to get work I don't want to do done. And since that video, it's been working for me. The reason I wanted to start this channel was because I wanted to share all the ways I've figured out and honestly still am figuring out how to be productive. I didn't find many channels that share realistic productivity advice. All the advice where people tell you not to do something or that it's wrong to do something a certain way, I find it unhelpful. I don't want to be an expert. I literally just want to share what's working for me in hopes it helps someone else. Keep it up! And be kind to yourself. You'll figure out what works for you with time.

Haha. I'm glad. I know I recorded it all janky with my phone, but I wanted to just show a setup that's realistic. The tiered setup helps a tons cause it gives more space underneath while raising up the monitor. The only thing is that my speakers aren't at ear level, but I'm not serious when it comes to recording music, so it's whatever.

@_AnthonyGaunaАй бұрын
So glad you found it helpful and that you came across my channel. It's still very brand new. I'm working on another Todoist video so maybe that will give you more aha moments. I'll be talking through all my favorite reasons why I use the app. I've been using since about 2014 or so and I've just had a lot of time with it. And I only got my ADHD diagnosis a year ago, but since learning that, it's led me to try and use it in a way that makes sense to my brain and supports me.

Subbed :) I'm also a creative with ADHD. I'm an artist and designer and streamed art on twitch in it's golden days and planning to get back to it as well as KZbin now. Editing - I'd vote DaVinci resolve because good and free and tons of free resources for it. Screen recording OBS all the way! What really helped me with editing was custom shortcuts, a gizmo that helps with editing and timeline scrolling - I use TourBox it has a bunch of wheels and programmable buttons, and as someone VERY visual (my adhd absolutely cannot handle visual boring information) I got a gaming RGB keyboard where each individual key can be custom colored. So if you google video editing keyboard - you'll see the editing boards are color coded and have icons on keys - I did something similar with my board. No icons obviously but color coding helped me A LOT ! Also can set up a custom editing "side board" by using Elgato stream deck and dropping editing commands on that - that literally give you visual and icons and a side board if that works better for you. Good luck!
@_AnthonyGaunaАй бұрын
Thank you! Wishing you all the best on the new chapter. KZbin has been so fun to get into. I have DaVinci resolve and have used it, but I find for what I need it's a little too much. It's overwhelming for me. Lol. I'm now using Camtasia and I think it's what I'm going to be sticking with. I've head a ton about the stream decks, but never really thought of needing or wanting to get one until you bring it up. I think that would be a helpful game-changer for video editing. Thank you so much again for subscribing. And good luck with your channel and Twitch! You'll do great!

Your system and layout is cool! I use projects for my main go-to. Basically each high level area of my life becomes a project and then I put sections within those. I really want to use filters and labels, but can't figure out how to make them work with my brain haha. Also, I need a backlog system lol. The amount of times I change due dates on some tasks is too much

Thanks! At some point I plan to do a video on my entire system. I do the same thing with sections. I use the filters almost exclusively because it helps me navigate my day or work based on how I'm feeling. Lol. It's super helpful. The one thing I don't want to do for my backlog is filter based on when a task was created.
