Very interesting shows this week. You addressed the coming draft, and our prospects. The summer should be interesting as we (Flyers) move forward. Hope the both of you enjoy your weekend.

Are teams drafting more specifically for position than in the past? At one time I remember the best player available being picked. It seems as a fan, the NHL teams are picking the player they have specific needs on and development of that player. Interesting show.

There can never be enough goaltending depth in the organization. I think that has been proven with the Flyers over the years. With the Kolosov situation potentially leading to him going back, it’s important to keep that pipeline full.

Hurricanes did a very foolish thing in hiring Rod Brind'Amour over Mike Keenan, who at 74 still has the motivation to Coach in the NHL. I'm still flabbergasted and in shock Keenan had no mention on your recent Podcast regarding X Flyer Head Coaches. In Flyers history, Mike Keenan will go down more beloved than Rod Brind'Amour. Certainly in the hearts of Flyers fans, Keenan is at least the second best head Coach in Flyer history. Taking Flyers twice to the finals in 85 and in 87, to Seventh game. Both times WITHOUT Tim Kerr.

Foerster has an uphill battle against Torts, if he wants his offensive numbers to improve. Enough with the GM's and long-term deals. If TK wants to remain a Flyer, then he'll understand and come to a compromise. Otherwise, trade him while he's worth something. That's another reason to see what we have in LHV, and not to sign any more vets on the downside. Let's get back to the rebuild. I'm getting tired of playing the playoff dice roll. I'm curious to see what happens with Farabee and York. I think that they have a some upside, if given a chance. Drum roll please.....

Mike Keenan is the Second best Head Coach Flyers ever had. 40 years Flyers hired Moke Keenan. Mike took the Flyers to Seventh game of the Stanley Cup finals in 87, with Tim Kerr. During Keenans time with the Flyers, Blackhawks and Rangers, he was the best Coach in professional Sports.

I get a good laugh at all the Michkov reporting. I really have to budget my time listening to other podcasts. All the social media hype, and "reporting" coming out of Russia is crazy. You had mentioned Shiro the other day, and he'd be shocked that Russians are being drafted by the Flyers...lol. Anyway, thanks for keeping it real. The Russian Savior will arrive when he does. Until then, it's just a ratings game. Plus, the Flyers aren't ready for them. They have a coach to deal with, they have contracts to deal with, and players who are still stuck in LHV. Then, you have to account for the transition to the NA style of play. A lot of this should have been sorted out this season, but it didn't happen. I believe the most glaring need during the draft is someone who can score. If you let TK walk, or trade him the scoring becomes quite thin. Then, there are the face-offs to deal with, and the PP. Priorities folks. Priorities.

I believe that Michkov will be here earlier, this summer is he was not included in the U25 All-Star Team. I am looking at it that Michkov is getting prepared to come to the States.

Where out of what he said you take it as he is staying in Russia is beyond me. He's clearly just playing nice and taking the same tone as the Flyers organization.

Yes exactly. We're saying based on his playing nice, he COULD (not necessarily will) stay in Russia another year which isn't necessarily a bad thing and the Flyers need to plan accordingly for either outcome. Negotiations will continue behind the scenes and whatever happens, happens. We'll be okay with it either way.

I don't think its terrible that Michkov stays in Russia another year. I look forward to seeing what points he can put up with full season (lost almost month due to Pneumonia last season). I also think there are parts of his game that need work such as 1:1 battles in corners, defense. The version of Michkov right now is that he doesn't even pretend to play any defense and that might be maddening for Torts. If he does come over, then Flyers just improved their power play and can find out who Michkov plays well with.

Thanks for today's show. Good conversation as usual. Watching the Oilers game, I had a question for debate. If Skinner wins the Cup, does he turn into Chris Osgood at midnight? There are so many similarities between the two career wise. Why do the Flyers have to ride out Tort's contact? Just cut ties with him, and pay him his money. He doesn't want half of the duties of being head coach, so why move him further into the organization? Does the Comcast support for Torts run deep? Is that why Danny B. allows such a long leash? Torts already stated that he's not going to change for anyone, so let him be someone else's headache. He doesn't want to develop players, he doesn't like coordinating with LHV, etc.... Plus, he doesn't have patience with the line combinations. Finally, he loves the vets, and is loyal to his coaching staff to a fault. He runs away from adversity, and let's others deal with the public when he develops an attitude. This, to me, doesn't benefit this particular team, and the direction that it needs to go in. Rip the bandaid off, and find someone else. The vets like him for the additional playing time, but he loses the rest of the players with his head games, and inconsistencies. He maybe a decent person, but his coaching style has made him a dinosaur. For this reason, I don't think that the team will make much progress next season. Lastly, what line does Coots need to play on to be the most effective? I know. I sound like a broken record, lol. Thanks.

I watched Emil Andrae so closely with the Phantoms in person, and on TV. He has a lot to like. Good feel for the PP point. When he jumps into the slot, he can snipe. What I think no one realizes.. he is not too small. He's built well and can punish people. I feel there's a lot of potential here.

Adam Fox used the broken college system to become a UFA and choose where he wanted to go. That was a gift to the Rangers. They developed him well, but they had nothing to do with acquiring him.

I worry about Torts giving michkov the Frost,Brink treatment everytime he makes a mistake and not wanting to play for Torts...Torts already said in his exit interview he is not changing his coaching style...I truly believe Torts is one of the major reasons we lost Cutter...if we lose Michkov Flyers will lose alot of ticket sales for sure.

Very good show, I like how you broke down the final 4 teams in the playoffs and how they were built. You showed there is not one way to do it. It took a little time, intelligence, and some luck. I always thought having a couple of Russian players would be enough to make Michkov feel at home, but it is not enough. He is very young, still developing. I would hope that Michkov can bring his mother and brother over here to ease the transition for Matvie. That would definitely help. His younger brother can get on a good team as there are many Junior leagues on the east coast for him to play in and develop himself. Back to the Flyers, this is another transition for the Flyers rebuild, it is exciting.

Can’t play in KHL hockey? Are you two dumb? Hahaha. SKA doesn’t play young guys, Michkov is nearly ppg in Sochi. Do some research. I started watching locked on flyers early this season and after a few weeks I couldn’t watch anymore because of the negativity and bone headed takes. I decided to watch this video to see if those things are still true months later and they certainly are. If anyone wants to listen to people who know what they’re talking about head to PHLY and listen to Charlie and Bill.

These conditions are ridiculous because Michkov no matter what will NOT be in the AHL and no matter what will average in the top 10 of players in minutes per game because if he suck (which will never happen) they would want to give him all the chance possible to succeed and that inherently in itself translates into MINUTES played so these conditions are sill imo!!!

Haven't been this happy about a player since Eric Lindros. It's been 49 years since the Flyers last touched the Cup. The Flyers will do what they have to do to accommodate Michkov. Flyers brass will acclimate him into the system, Torts etc. This IS happening. Let me be happy, dammit.

Excellent show, guys. There has to be a way to reasonably manage expectations, and not fall into the trap of wanting or expecting certain things to happen. This is why I'm greatly concerned about the coaching situation. The coach, and GM seem to be at odds with their ideas of team management. This conflict in my eyes has stalled the team player progression. Because of the cap space, and player needs, we need to move some kids up. We don't need any more vets that cost against the cap or who can't produce anymore. Speaking of having a linemate for Mitchkov, how about looking at Necas with Carolina? He's from the region, and his a center, and we do need a center. Your thoughts? Much appreciated, and keep up the good work. Bringing people back to reality might not be popular, but it has to be addressed in order to provide a complete, and realistic picture. Until, tomorrow.

Whats wrong with developing him in the nhl if we are technically rebuilding just give him the minutes...would you rather him stay in khl and not adapt to us and risk him not coming at all....I think if there is opportunity to get him over here next season get him here and develop him in nhl and make it work...Russ always seems like he takes a positive and tries to turn it into negative.

Both Russ and Rachel tends to be "half glass empty" types and it gets old listening to their negative takes. Should find another commentator or add a third with a more positive outlook. Anytime you get an NHL ready player or a talent like Michkov it makes the whole organization better. The older veterans and players that can't climb up the depth chart need to be let go and replaced with prospects with upside. Give Michkov the support staff to make sure he feels comfortable so he can concentrate on his NHL career. As far as Kolosov is concerned he's #3 on the depth chart right now, there will be a time he gets called up to the Flyers for injuries/illness that always happens during the season. If he doesn't have the confidence to work on his game to outplay and pass Fedetov/Ersson then maybe you don't want him anyway.

They are trying to temper expectations. As Flyers fans, we should always expect the worst - just look at the last 50 years. It is better to think he needs work and have him surprise us with his abillity rather than expect him to become Kirill Kaprisov in year one.

If NHL teams even had a hint that he could come over this soon - he wouldn’t have made it past 3rd pick. He instantly upgrades PP. Bring Bonk up next year & they will have PP that actually has some skill. I still believe Farabee can evolve into effective player on PP.
