This is out of Date. The Riu Negril has been shut for over 3 Months and is being completely Renovated and will even have Swim Up Rooms when it Reopens on 7th December 2024

Royalton and food? Omg are you guys getting paid by them? Rotalton food is trully bad. Hard to find anything on menu. Steakhouse briskets were like bricks or hammer hardZ cabe broight burned medium rare steak. Only zen was fun and edible. Adding the below average service, never again with a royalton resort!

It’s a more like a 45 minute drive from the airport. Highly recommend the short ribs at Krystal and ordering the entire menu at the Indian restaurant. We do both every visit.

Thank you for the very informative video. We are going to book a vacation there. We found two options: "suite" and "lakeview suite". The second one is more expensive and advertised as located in a "privileged area of the hotel". Would you know what that means and if it would be worth the difference of price? If you don't know, would you have an email where we can get info?

I have stayed here twice, a few years apart. Both times the hotel was spotless, the second time it looked as clean and crisp as the first. I don't have any negatives, it's big enough to never look crowded, on the beach around the pools or in any of the restaurants. The only times you see lots of people is in the main entertainment area at night which is very popular. There are kids but during they are easy to avoid if you want to, there is enough pools and space for everyone. The lounge and little coffee bar with cakes is air-conditioned, but never crowded. it depends on time of year obviously but we never bothered to eat in the air conditioned part of the main restaurant, it was nice sitting outside. The sports bar has air con and is quick to serve drinks. Rooms are typical RIU, but the showers are massive and always hot. The staff both times were brilliant.

No, it' has no direct access. You can access to Playa Del Carmen beach accessible by a 5-minute walk or complimentary shuttle at the Riu Yucatan and the Riu Playacar

Really angry, at the resort now, yesterday when the donkeys came on the beach this one security guard who works for the hotel chased them away, they was so scared when they saw him they ran. Then today while I was feeding the skinny sick looking one, the same security guard walked up to the donkey and kicked him twice. Me and my wife had a go at him, but he was just smiling and laughing saying he's allowed to and that the donkeys not allowed here. He didn't care. We went to reception. The manager refused to speak to us, despite walking past us in the reception area, but we came back later and the reception staff said the manager spoke to the security guard who claims he only pushed the donkey that was all. Complete lier and despite us witnessing it and other guests on the beach, they are doing nothing about it. I even reported that the donkeys looked sick and in need of attention. They claim they have let someone know, but can't say who. I insisted on speaking to the manager, so the staff member again went to the manager and came back saying we had an appointment with the other manager at 7pm. Fuming. They claim to care about animals yet doing nothing about this. That guy will carry on hurting the donkeys. This is not acceptable

i’ve just booked from the UK. It’s much cheaper to book directly through Barcelo as opposed to travel agents such as TUI or BA. You can also add add-ons such as unlimited access to some surrounding parks like XCARET. You can also include return private transfers. For a very slight increase in total cost, you can opt to pay everything on arrival at the hotel so nothing at all to pay upfront. You can cancel up to a week before arrival with no charge and afterwards you are charged a maximum of 1 night stay in event of cancellation or no-show. I’m just waiting for flights prices to come down now before i book those. Can’t wait!!!! ❤❤❤

We stayed here 24th December 23 to 7th January 24 they would not give us the room we paid extra for and expected our 13 year old son to sleep in the same bed as us but he ended up sleeping on a broken put me up bed. The fire alarms going off every other night around 1am till 4am, people fighting, bad food hygiene. Bed bugs. Our son sliced his foot open on broken tiles in the pool. Reception staff very rude! It is that bad that our holiday rep was happy to give us a refund of 10% there and then! But that was a joke I didn’t pay almost £3000 each for my son to sleep on a broken put me up bed. So when we got home we were offered 25% refund. So up to you if you want to waste your money going here. Or if you have already booked it try and change the hotel. We have stayed at other Riu hotels in Cancun and Jamaica and let’s just say that Riu should be ashamed of this hotel.
