The bottom of Combined Effort, du I move my fellow players or do they? Do I move sommons of others players or do they? I would they Banner Spear can move any ally but the player characters but I'm not sure. Can't find a rule for this one.

Hey @MandatoryQuest, do you know how Concentrated Rage works with something like Forceful Swipe (multi-target attacks). if you hit 3 enemies do you get three tokens? and if you trigger the Concentrated rage damage does it buff the damage on all targets of the attack?

This only works if you never use an augment, summon or anything useful, and doesn't account for the actions of enemies. Not sure I agree with the maths, unless you play a really boring, perfect game every time.

Re-watching this (cos I missed too much to watch the more recent vids, and I have a fractured scapula and a cold), listening to your rant about failing scenarios and the whole time I'm thinking about how for my solo campaign I would just completely reset the scenario and start again when I fail (i.e. no xp, no loot, no calendar progress, no progress of any sort) and I'd do that until I passed or was convinced it was actually impossible for my party. I don't think there has been a single scenario that I deemed was impossible for my party, dam close but not quite there yet. One of the solo scenarios I've done on the other hand...geez.

very useful, but it is hard to understand you. Please keep pauses, emphasise, or slow down. Words and sentences blending to each other and it is hard to understand. At this part I listed 8 times and still dont understand what you say 13:07 "if you are using lots of different (ayowee?) attacks"

It would help for someone not familiar with the game yet that when you are talking about a specific card that you stop moving the mouse pointer all over the place and scrolling and instead keep it still so we can read the card to see what you are talking about.

So if you have fucktons of gold you can enhance the bottom of Stiletto Storm to put a Strengthen on that Retaliate. I think that's it's only real purpose.

Keeping an attack 2 stun for so long is madness when you have permanent shield 2 to mitigate enemy attacks.

My biggest issue is the price of the upgrade pack is ridiculous. It’s like the character upgrades is half the price of the entire game. If you were to just get the upgrade pack and the figurines, it’s about 70% of the cost of the game. for that kind of money you might as well pay the difference and get the entire game. At least you will get the new card packs, class figures, adjusted/new items, improved storyline, artwork, etc. just my thought

Great video. I have been playing this class for quite a few scenarios and I have to say, along with Angry Face this is probably my favourite class across two (physical) Gloomhaven Campaigns and currently playing through Crimson Scales. I really love the flexibility, charge aspects and cool attacks you can do with this class. I disagree that the element aspects is forced, I find it thematic that as a Alchemist/Scientist-esque class you are are not too discriminate as to which elements you are converting into abilities. Distilling elements/magic into other powers fits the theme very well I find. The other aspect is that unlike certain other classes that use elements, you can operate perfectly well without using some or even any elements as well, if you prefer to lean on the charge aspects. One spicy enhancement that I don't think was mentioned was putting an extra target on the top of Level 1 Preliminary Research. With target 3, you can get through all three charges in a turn on Critical Observation or Critical Hypothesis if you get three targets. Very worth the 100gold. Also the other must-have enhancement is increased range on Contagious Malady, makes it much easier to get the splash poison on another target. The only criticism is that I have found that the level up choices are pretty one-sided: Especially Level 2 and 3, I can't see a world where you don't take Nutrient Overdose and Weather Forecast. With the other level 3 in particular, Electromagnetism, the top is a joke: What incentive would your allies have to try to protect the metal detector? So you can get the money and not them? It does nothing to help the party. But otherwise, awesome class. I played Sprig beforehand and now playing this one and I had a heap of fun with Sprig, but this is even more enjoyable. Cheers.

I cannot wait! We have changed our minds and are waiting on GH 2.0 before getting FH and Sawbones (I am a spoiler fiend) is one I am going to tell my kids, "Look... y'all get to pick tour starting classes and I'll pick from whats left, but I get SAWBONES when we unlock him!" I won't tell them that until we unlock him. But yeah, this looks amazing! Im gonna name mine Leonard.

I play Mind Thief and I try little strategies to prolong my hand playability but almost never burning a card, at least until the boss room and/or near the end goal of the scenario -and when I do, it has to count (risk analysis). I never summon (MT summons suck anyway) and I make ample use of STA potion. Many MT players go slow on first round and fast on second, but I try to stun ASAP/quickly, drink my STA potion, get my stun card back all in the first round, then stun again the second. With the right party, I can nullify the biggest threats in the room and we make quick work of the first room, setup everyone for optimum placement near the door/resting opportunity, then chokepoint the monsters and I stun again :) My favorite is when the nastiest monster in room just never gets a chance to go haha

Never tried it, but was thinking about Reviving Ether for Spellweaver. After she's used it to get her cards back once, if partied up with the Tinkerer, Tinkerer has a card that allows an ally to regain a burned card, thus Spellweaver could get another cycle?

could you explain me something? i have lost scenario right now on beginner difficulty. im playing brute + tinkerer. my tinkerer have 2 bad attack modifiers, 6 neutral and 17 good...and wtf is going here? at the end of scenario i chceck which modifiers gave me the game: i get 1 bad, 5 neutral and 6 good...what the hell?...i get 50% of my bad attack modifications, 83% of neutral and only 36% good...i have total 8 bad and neutral modifications and i get 6 of them, and i have 17 good and get only 6

Great video! Can I ask - do you know if these are the final versions of these? I want to print the cards and play v2 tinkerer in our Frosthaven campaign. I know I've seen a different version of his sheet so wasn't sure if this one is the right one or not. Also, is there a place I can find the PDF versions of these for print and play? Thanks!

Hi MQ, good game there. I think u were playing the icy and hazardous terrain wrong. It says place icy and hazardous terrain in all featureless hexes adjacent to targets of the attacks, not in the targets hex :)

Bombs + Blind Destruction (+ Extra Ammo) (+ Doomed Compass) can just instakill an entire room full of enemies, it's insane.

Just started on pc, like level 2, sun/beast unlock. Scoundrel has been awesome so far. She's so fast, if I want she can go pop all the doors and come back to fight. With sun she gets cards back a lot as well. Anyway, I think she's underrated.

Just wondering with the bottom of double time does it says trigger fast effects twice. Does that mean it trigger the xp twice since it part of the fast effects?

Hi MQ were you thinking the snow drifts in this scenario were obstacles? They are difficult terrain i think so your first Earth demons move would have been onto the nearest difficult terrain to get nearer to core number 1?

If an enemy has a ranged attack with no movement and has one enemy adjacent and another within range, will he choose to attack the closest at a disadvantage or another within range?

When talking about Many as One (level 9 card), you mention you're not your own ally for the purposes of calculating the attack bonus granted by the aura. There seems to be an exception to this "ally != self" rule with the battle goals. There's a goal that says "Don't let any allies become exhausted'. I've managed to fail this battle goal despite the only character becoming exhausted being the character with the goal itself. This would imply that a character does count as it's own ally.. This contradiction is a bug maybe?

Concetrated Rage you use it once and then lost it or discard it? Lets say the upper attack has +3 damage then it adds another +3 so its +6 damage? does it have to be a command card so it can adds to the bear attack? Its confusing!

i’m having a really difficult time finding a use for the summoner. one or two summons maybe are useful with a single ally, otherwise they’re just choking the battleground and then lagging behind to be useless later. non summons cards are middling at best. later levels get better maybe, but why even bring her when you can bring the doom hunter, or one of the other better summons characters. still working on it.

Before retiring, I played a few scenarios with Divine Intervention on Sunkeeper with a level 9 Summoner and ooh boy, I didn't have to worry about the summons dying at all because I just had the Sunkeeper take the damage so I could play them a lot more aggressively and then mid scenario once Sunkeeper's health was nearly zero, I just popped a helix ring and she was right back to full with a heal 25 to do it all over again. Insane stuff

Dear Mr. Quest Mandatory After playing for at least 5k experience worth of Sun class I have to disagree with the Weapon of Purity statement. I do want to admit firstly that if you HAVE to tank , you should indeed not go this route. Though I have managed to mostly play with parties consisting of either 1 frontline + Sun Class or 1 healer + Sun Class. Going into level 8, Weapon of Purity is an incredibly strong gameplan. In this build, ofcourse, you don't go Supportive Chant, you choose Illuminate The Target instead. You have Cleansing Force, Mobilizing Axiom, rolling sun modifiers and Wand of Brilliance to consitently get sun every round. Paired with Long Spear, stamina pots and a couple of earrings and you'll be mowing the enemy monsters. At first, I added Beacon of Light. But I quickly realised that at the end of most scnearios, it still had 3-4 charges left on it. Admittedly, it is a little bit harder to pull off since your card management has to be on point. For example: you really can't play Cleansing Force and Mobilizing Axiom in the same turn unless you're resting at the end of the round. But with some experience, I truly believe this to be one of, if not the strongest Sun Class build out there. I want to end this by telling you that I do love your content! Kind Regards Fan

1:25:51 decided to re-draw the card lost on short rest without taking a damage (actually mattered) 2:06:25 uses Dominate to attack the elite Night Demon but doesn't remove the shade 2:41:35 uses Dominate as the final action... but no shade to attack from

I've been playing the Sun following your guide, was our first unlock. Actually think she does a fair whack of damage. Very single target, but she has a pretty good deck so she just kinda doinks people on the head and then rolls a 6 base into a 10-12 with all her extra damage roll cards and such. She reliably just knocks targets down. We now have the Musical Note in our party and combining Sun's Shield + Retaliation with Music Notes retaliation is actually hilarious. 5 direct damage every time she's hit and everything she takes reduced by 2 😂 in certain situations where you have a large bulk of melee enemies that normally the Sun is less effective with, she can wipe them in a turn while long resting in the middle of the room by just being a punching bag with a bit of spice 😂

A forbidden combination that has easily become me and my partner's most overpowered team is using Saw + Red Guard + Music Note + Cthulu. Some spoilers in first comment.

Saw and Music Note can easily result in Shield Spikes becoming Retaliate 10 or more even without optimal equipment or enchantments. It really trivializes the game on most difficulties to the point that crowd control (disarm/stuns) actually slows down the game. Since Red Guard becomes a near unstoppable wall that enemies unalive against the moment they try to attack him (due to his shields being higher than most health pools), its better to just Muddle and Immobilize to make it so enemies doing ranged attacks won't bother moving out of range since they won't gain advantage (or simply can't) - meaning they'll take 10+ damage or more for being within retaliate range. In Deadly difficulty, enemies that do manage to roll an attack higher than Red Guard's shields will still have a high chance of drawing a miss due to the crazy curse generation from Music Note and Cthulu. There are scenario types that this strategy doesn't work well with- such as ones where Red Guard isn't able to draw all of the aggro (surround scenarios such as Scenario #48), but having a near indestructible Red Guard who is immune to status effects and curses while buffed by Research the Cure (and further enhanced by Precaution, Syringe and Defensive Ditty) drawing aggro while enemies harm themselves and get picked off by the rest of the party is wild. Even moreso if the Music Note is using item summons like the Jade Hawk or Power Core that will make use of its insane modifier deck while staying alive due to the party-wide shields that do effect those summoned allies. I kinda wish I hadn't stumbled upon this strat since it does remove a lot of fun from the game, but as far as optimization goes, it's definitely one of the crazier combinations. I recommend doing builds to have fun though. Saw is actually pretty fun outside of the support build. His damage and modifiers aren't bad and having item summons drawing your modifiers to get you items back is great.
