I find going to the buffet or the quays hard to do as a solo, because you have to get food first makes it hard to find a seat. I like main dining room at lunch because the quays and the buffet is always such a busy place.

100% worth doing the retreat on Azura. Smaller ship, older, and the in summer all decks are packed. I’ve done Caribbean on azura and the retreat was really nice and tranquil compared to rest of the ship just crammed with people on sun beds.

Great series guys, we’ll take Hamburg off our list then 😂 I’d of told them old foagies to do one and then started tapping just to annoy them more. Some people are just arseholes. The UK cruises some people are really snobby, the US ones are like parties and a lot younger. Sure you’ll enjoy the virgin one even more

Thanks for honest videos. Just to note that if you book select fare, it doesn’t include priority boarding (unless you have paid for a suite). However does allow you to choose your cabin. We tend to choose a forward cabin with little footfall on decks 10,11 or 12 where we’ve never heard rattling cups!

What was the name of the car parking company you used ? I can't find it . Southampton Cruise and Parking say on their site they park the cars 8 miles away from the port 😮 .

We took our 9 month old son on a marella cruise couple of years ago, in one of the lifts within an hour of being on board an old lady said why have you brought him you won't enjoy your holiday. Couldn't believe it 😅

I`ve watched all of your Iona series. They`ve been great and informative for anyone new to cruising. I was new to cruising last year travelling solo from Doncaster and sailed on Arvia to the Med in April. Like you mentioned you end up booking another onboard, I did to Norway on Britannia in June. This year its Iona, (Ventura travelling with daughter and granddaughter with Autism) and Arcadia. Keep up the vlogging and don`t worry about what other rude cruisers. Some people are ignorant and uneducated to conditions, we get it with my granddaughter. PS. Yes I've also got a KZbin channel.

'It's when they don't have a laugh'. We sat next to a couple in Keel & Cow who were close to having a domestic. He kept making nasty comments at her, and it was really awkward. We saw them again at a port and they were still fighting. Lovely holiday. ;)

You needed your passport because that's the law in Germany for everyone over 16 to carry their ID. Same with the Netherlands. You did not need to show it when getting back on the ship because your cruise card shows up with your photo, and your ID was already checked when you first got on board in Southampton.

Nice to see Iona again, it is my happy place after doing our first cruise last June. The Crow's Nest was our favourite spot to spend a sea day, especially if we could get a high backed chair. Can't wait to go again.

We regularly cruise from Southampton and use Penguin Parking. Always a great service and door to door to and from the ship. Might be worth exploring other options before your other cruises in 2025.

We got the shuttle to blankeburg in December Opposite is the train station and return was 10 e and the train runs every hour 15 mins walk into Bruges Nice to watch these as brings back Xmas cruise memories 😊

You need to remember with the deluxe , you get extra things like costa coffees , iced caramel lattes expensive wines , higher grade spirits . As I love 2-3 Costa coffees £10 , 6 waters £10 , 2 wines with dinner £16 , 4 cocktails/Spirits £30 , plus if it’s a sea day , probably 3 drinks in the day . But I do get the deluxe for £50 with my discount. And I’m solo . If I know anyone , I will order them a drink or 2 lol 😂. Make sure I’m hitting £70 a day minimum

I find it interesting that you had to pay to get orange juice with breakfast...shouldnt that have been included in the refreshment package!
