thanks, it was all deliberate and slow and methodical... until you put on the straps! Fast motion, seen from below, "and that's it!" Oh NO, can't see it! Do you have 2 hooks on each ratchet strap, and you hook a metal curved edge of the canoe cart with one hook, then wrap it around a lot, then hook the other end to something handy, like a gunwale or a thwart?

For the price they could have included three extra corner pole pieces to use to prop open the door flap - PINA to take the poles out of the corners.

Does it matter how you put the poles? On mine when its assembled one pole is way higher than yhe other 2 whereas on yours at 3 37 they touch at the very top

I chose Tom Crean & his courageous journey for my history project in secondary school ( I’m Irish ) & it’s still one of my favourite projects I’ve ever done. He is an absolute legend & there is an airport in Co. Kerry now named after him.

Why don't you upload videos regularly on KZbin? 😥
@SpitffireTriple3 ай бұрын
At 11.19 kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6TWc2iorNlohbssi=En3Q3jQ34D6nriUL&t=679, these's an image of the inside of a pannier. It's festooned with bolt heads. They'd make a real mess of any laptop. Do all the panniers have these bolt heads, and if so, is there a standard way to minimise damage? As well as my laptop, I'd be wary of putting any lightweight gear eg a Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer jacket. That too would get shredded by bolt heads.
@vigilant_1934Ай бұрын
They weren't designed with laptops in mind. Ortlieb has Urban/commuter ones that have compartments for things like that but the older ones like the Classic were for cross country bike touring not office jobs or school. A simple fix is placing the laptop in a smaller bag or wrapping it in a sweatshirt or something which is what I do for extra protection in my backpack even though it has a laptop compartment already. Some shops sell a commuter liner to go inside Ortlieb panniers.

Hi Albert, The dolly's float. I place it into the canoe. Sometimes I bungee it in, depending on conditions etc. Hope that helps? Chris

Gotta say that using mine as a one person tent. When sitting on a two and a half inch mattress I need to put my gortex jacket at the foot end of my sleeping bag or quilt to keep it dry due to the end being so low. I would never consider using it as a two person tent due to the high level of condensation. I wouldn’t buy it again but will get some use out of it.

Crean pub was attacked by unionist terrorists in 1920s. They were ready to destroy everything, but when they saw his pictures and memorabilia in service of crown, they just left.
@kimmoj25705 ай бұрын
If Scott had put Crean and Lashly in place of Evans and Oates he would had come through regardless of all other fumbling he did. Evans had really serious problems with starvation diet being big man, and Oates was crippled by serious war wound in leg. Lashly and Crean on other hand were tougher than nails men. Scott would had never select Lashly because he was put on charge of tractors which were just prototypes and failed. Even more damnably Crean was Irish.

One of the best reviews I've seen of any tent (and I've watched a lot over the last few weeks!). I am going to see the folks at my tent supplier next week to return a Terra Nova Laser Pulse 1 which was way too small for me; thankfully they have agreed to replace it and the tent that I am most keen to see and consider as its replacement is this Nordisk Telemark 2.2 LW. This is to replace my old Terra Nova Laser Lite which has served me well but suffers from the inability to pitch taught now due to its age (19 years)... I think you and I are both long distance walkers although I am significantly older! (65 just) I am exactly 6ft tall so the measured 76cm headroom in the Laser Pulse 1 was just ridiculously low - basically it's more of a bivvy only design but super lightweight at only 550g thereabouts and a pack size that is about the same volume as a bag of sugar! Pretty amazing really but just too small to consider on a multi-day hike (they also do a ULW version!) The Nordisk Telemark 2.2 LW is really tempting but a lot of reviewers complain about condensation being particularly bad in this tent, but as we know condensation is a fact of life for any uninsulated structure with a living breathing human inside, it's just a matter of management and ventilation... So, what has been your experience around the ventilation issue with this tent? Is it really any worse than others of a similar type? I have seen comment that the two-door design is desirable not only because of the convenience for two people but also that it helps with ventilation; I think many of the reviews I have seen have been from people using the single-door version. Anyway, great video. I hope you get to see this message before I go to see my tent supplier next Thursday (28 March); in the meantime you have a new subscriber! Thanks :) Please forgive me a quick promo: read about my walks at truswell.org/books :)

@AdventureSolos the city is so much cheaper. The classic looks better by having a less plastic, glossy look and has a better locking mechanism so it can hold taller or more items, buy that in itself doesn't make it worth twice as much. So I'm going to get the city. Thank you so much for this video because I was clueless before watching

A phenomenal story. I read the book not long after it was released. Thank you Michael for writing it. I loved history when going to school in Ireland and couldn't believe I'd never heard of Tom, or sadly even knew Ernst Shackleton was Irish too, an indictment on the system. I am glad that my son and his generation will not miss out on these stories, they are so powerful and stirring, and while the story of Scott is too, it means so much more when it is people of your own land who have done it, particularly in Tom Creans case when he was so unassuming and ordinary yet utterly remarkable at the same time.
