Funny how Ian dances around like Frankenstein while the band looks stoic. He’s also a terrible singer, but for some reason it just works. Style and originality can trump ability. There are some great technical singers out there that are a bore to listen to, just as there are technically terrible singers who I love to listen to. I’m a sucker for the older cure stuff and chuck mosely faith no more era. Let’s not forget how raspy Tom waits is or Dylan. Love joy division.

Always prefered the live version of shes lost control, unknown pleasures is a good album but the sound of it ruins the songs, over produced

_I know a lot of people won't believe but I was there, it was not in Altrincham but in Bowden which is about a mile away, (next to Hale) funny thing was I wasn't a fan but went 'cos my girlfriend was. Not a bad gig, and afterwards she got her Tshirt signed by Ian & hooky._

Point to me where raw genuine human music is like this today? Not a copycat band or over produced to the point where it looses the human element. JD was notorious for not for not being able to play their instruments well, but i think their stuff is brilliant. No cellphones, no youtube(lol I'm a hypocrite), no apps and gadgets. Just raw feeling with no extra fat.

Hopefully, when I'm unfettered from a body in time & space, I can ghost around Joy Division. Knew when I dropped a phonograph needle on the 12" of An Ideal For Living that THIS is why God gave me a radio show (MMom/WRUW. September, 1978)

You know, I discovered Unknown Pleasures when I was 13-14 (currently 33) by total happenstance, and its been one of my favorite records my whole life. But in reality Ian was gone 7 years before I was born, and 20-21 years before I discovered his music, yet I still to this tear up watching these old live shows, feeling like I was there, wish i was.
