Do they give the poor fellow ANYTHING for pain. He's so sad, trying to be brave but it hurts so bad...

These folks should have running water in their homes or at least right out the front door so they can take care of themselves and their families. How do they get water now? Just does not make any sense to me! Do children in these small communities attend school?

You are 1 million percent right, it is all about the community taking care of its responsibility to look after its people. People in the developed countries know about their responsibility to their own family, their employers, their own health, their own property. But they are completely oblivious to the responsibility we all have for each other, we are responsible for the well-being of our community. People have forgotten why this is critical for the quality of the environment we have to live in. The truest saying I have ever heard is "it takes a village to raise a child" it is that simple, as humans we are meant to live in groups working together to achieve what we cannot do alone. We nee to find a way back to that mindset if we are to survive and change a world that is saturated with corruption and dripping in violence.

The video seemed to be more of a promotional ad for the lady politician of that county than a solution finding event for the man. When they showed his feet 2 days later, no jiggers had been dug from his feet. She actually said to him that there isn't any drug that can kill a jigger, so they just left him in his misery, pointing out the failures in the communities but not fixing it. I like that so many of you mentioned Rise Up Society in Kenya and Jim N., it's leader, because that organization is really doing something about the problem - giving bedding, new shoes, concreting floors, and even rebuilding houses that look like this man's to be more sanitary. They are now in the process of building a hospital directly for jigger victims, as most hospitals turn these people away. Jiggers are highly contagious, since the embedded in the skin female is constantly flipping out eggs that easily attach to nearby people.

These poor ppl who can’t get ahead of the jiggers due to no help on a regular basis and if they had it to help clean themselves and their space it would be a huge help. The use of peroxide is very helpful after having been dug and the shin is open. What an awful affliction these bugs are. My heart goes out to them all.

Rise up Society does an amazing service for the poor. They cement homes, bring in new bedding, food etc. Everything in that home needs to be burned. The jiggers have to be cut out; numbing gel is used to prevent pain. By the way Rise Up Society has opened a small jigger hospital. Regular hospitals will not touch these people. You can donate 10$ per month through their utube channel…. It’s well worth it. I’ve been watch ing Rise Up Society for years…. They are awesome.

Suffering when there is nothing to do about it or when the medical profession has so much apathy for your suffering that is makes me sad and angry. I was marginalized and ignored most of my young years because Doctors in my time felt unless you can see a physical problem or the issue is life threatening I didn;t have a real problem and this kind of treatment is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

I've wondered, could local people grow PLANTS that have insect repellant qualities. The plants USED in insect repellants. Then spread them to the people. Just an idea. Also, this sand flea will attack if clearn or dirty. I can see cleaning out housing floors and cementing them. Water would of course be good, but that is a big step. I am moved by this First Lady and her attitude and caring. Bravo.
