To calculate the Per Ship Compass (PSC) from the True Course (TC) and Compass Error (CE), you need to determine whether the error is East or West: 1. If the Compass Error is East, you subtract the Compass Error from the True Course: PSC = TC - CE 2. If the Compass Error is West, you add the Compass Error to the True Course: PSC = TC + CE Key Rule: • East Error = Subtract • West Error = Add

Seems like it might be impossible to get into the raft wearing this bulky suit. It’s hard enough with a normal immersion suit, and I can’t imagine a situation where you would want anything warmer then one of those things. Hell I did the safety training in January and I was sweating in the normal suit even in the 30 degree water. Granted I run hot, but last time I did the training it was late fall and probably a 40 degree day with a water temperature of about 60 degrees and I almost passed out from heat stroke in a normal immersion suit.

The instructor's approach simplifies the material and makes it easy to understand. His recommendations prevented me from spending hundreds of dollars on unnecessary equipment that complicated things more. Should we ever cross paths, I'll gladly buy you a drink. Thanks, Northeast Marine Institute, for this video.

5 x 75 ÷ 100 = 3,75 (45 min is a 75% on a hour, is a 75% of 5kt = 3,75 sea mile.) What part is drift by wind and what is current? WK >>drift?>>BWK>>current?>>GrK ( How do i calculate when i drop sail and use engine, when i do not know both seperate? )

In this calculation the set in drift are relative. true speed and course of the vessel effected by the true current course and speed.
@troycadilo83724 ай бұрын
So therefore the relative is constant while the ship's heading is changing depend of the direction of the ship.

Thank you for your easily understood explaination. Ive been watching these RADAR videos since I was in college. When I was a deck cadet back in 2018 I downloaded these videos because we literally have no internet for a month every voyage during that contract. Today I will process my bachelors degree that will most likely have radar plotting assessment and Im refreshing my memory by watching these videos again. Thank you for sharing this lecture for many to learn from.

Nice lesson! Just FYI for anyone watching this - only 1 triangle is necessary. The demos here used 2 triangles, but the examples could be done with a straight edge (ruler, etc) substituting for the second triangle. This would save the cost of having to have buy a second triangle just to be able to parallelize movements around a chart.
