I just bought the black 301a and unfortunately It does not have the original bobbins case. Will one from a 301 work? I happen to have a tan 301

Great demo, thank you! Never used a serger before and such a wonderful machine. I like the compactness of the Juki! I wonder if these machines can handle a moderately thick fabric like pleather or do any leather stitching? Does anyone here know if the Juki MO-634DE older model is any good?

I had a 1966 Singer sewing machine until recently. It was a workhorse. I replaced it with the Singer HD6800C heavy duty. I have tried everything I can think of, but keep getting loops in the underside stitching. Do you have any suggestions to eliminate this issue? Thank you.

Your video was just what I needed. The manual is detailed but the video shows exactly how to prepare a bobbin, load it and thread the needle. Thank you.

Hi! Thank you for this video! I think I have done everything correctly but I think my thread keeps getting caught on a piece of the hook and not catching the bobbin thread. Any suggestions?

If your needle is inserted properly and still won’t form a stitch, it might need to be serviced by a technician.

Do you have to bring the beginning tails to the back to tie off or can you just clip them close to fabric?
@sewingbytes

The beginning tails can be clipped close. They don’t need to be pulled to the back.

I clip up to the right needle thread. As long as you don’t clip into the left needle thread, you’re good! 😃

I bought a used Serger like the one in the video but the instruction booklet was useless. The lady I bought it from sold it at a yard sale. It was brand new! But the previous owner just could not figure out how to thread it and use it. I figure someone on KZbin had to have put up a video on threading a serger. Sure enough! Your instructional video was wonderful! I rethreaded the serger by following along with you. Now this serger works great. I’ve never used a serger so still getting used to it but had to let you know that your video really helped me out!

Use a vintage sewing machine like a Singer 301 or 221, or a Bernina and use a rolled hem attachment. The Serger cuts the cloth and edge finishes with a satin stitch so great on thicker fabric. In chiffon you actually ROLL the fabric to create some thickness to the edge and sew it without a satin stitch. The older vintage machines did this so well and had a nice hand stitched quality to the stitching. I only own vintage sewing machines. Easy to service myself too.

It is very important to know that this machine takes the class 15 bobbin NOT the class 15J bobbin.

It can actually take either. However, the 15J will give you better performance.

Hello! The machine will need to be looked at by a technician. It is an easy thing to fix, but not something you should try to do yourself. The machine has a 1 year warranty, so if it was purchased within that time frame, you can send it to a Singer service center for repair under warranty. If you are in the Midwest, the authorized Singer service center is in Chicago at 4914 W Irving Park Rd.

I've played church organ and driven 18 wheelers and love complex machines and this was the first sewing machine I ever bought. About a year and a half ago and it's so much fun. My 60-year-old eyeballs have trouble threading the needle so I do love this feature. Thanks!
