Seems transparent to me. Watch his hands from the beginning, no big deal.

The best thing about these performances by Ricky Jay is that he's doing really clever and entertaining magic tricks and yet he's such a showman and great storyteller that the trick becomes almost incidental and you find yourself more interested in the story

I’m unsure if Ricky spent more time memorizing his patter or his brilliant sleight of hand 🧐 That’s a LOT of unnecessary patter the audience will never remember to create those minor moments of misdirection. One of a kind 💯 I’ve learned so much by watching this man. Aspiring magicians, Ricky Jay is THE MAN!

Amazing that Jay was able to show his cups and balls! Usually cameramen are physically and mentally unable to film solo cups.

I wonder why he doesn't use different colored balls.

At about 2:10, you see the ball in his right hand after it appeared he placed it under the center cup. I DIDN"T see him place it under the cup to his right. Thought he put it under the other one. Only an assumption on my part.

The first few misdirections are a bit clunky, a bit obvious, a bit too theatrical. I didn’t realize that they were performed that way on purpose to serve as a massive misdirection at the end of this routine. Genius.

Ricky Jay's greatest magic trick was appearing in eight million movies and TV shows, despite always just playing himself, just kind of there, like an old bloodhound, never doing an accent, barely even emoting XD Rest in Prestidigitation Mr Jay

Still can't believe Ricky has passed away, such a master magical card wizard that even had Penn & Teller left baffled over whilst scratching their heads aswell as the magic circle! It was a joy to see Ricky play one of the Bond villains in the Bond film, Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) playing the role as Henry Gupta who was the mastermind behind the little red box that is the Royal Navy's fleet encoder that can render a ship off coarse such as the HMS Devonshire after it has been tinkered with! Staring alongside Pierce Brosnan (as 007 James Bond) and Jonathan Pryce as the power hungry mad media mogul Elliot Carver & his wife Paris played by Teri Hatcher to name a few! Suffice to say that the International magic circle most certainly will not be the same without Ricky! The best card magician in the entire world by far!!! RIP Big Chap!

I remember this routine from the X-Files! Love the story telling and the dry humour. Anyone who’s watched Penn and Teller knows what’s going on, but it’s all the more impressive because it’s so smooth.
