Unison is tough, not a problem here. This never gets old. I enjoy the changes of key and wild chords and blend!! Thank you.

Simply the best ever quartet in the history of barbershop
@oucutie15 жыл бұрын
Imo Vocal Spectrum is one of the finest barbershop quartets on this planet 🌍 however, this song belongs to the Kings Singers. For those of you that love Lullaby, Goodnight my Angel 😇 please listen to the Kings Singers before finalizing your opinion. Other than that, I’ll take Vocal Spectrum any day!!!

Listen to the king's singers to help improve phrasing and intonation.
@Nightwatch3310 жыл бұрын
While I love the King Singer's version - to suggest that these guys need to work on their phrasing and intonation is crazy. This is a different arrangement, more in Barbershop style, by one of the best Barbershop groups in the world. I have perfect relative pitch, and while I hear slight drifts - they are doing this on together as a group and focusing more on the overtones and blend. If a pitch is pushed up a few cents, they do it together and create amazing overtones. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but I'm telling you this is some good stuff.

David Ritzel The Kings Singers exposed me to this Joel piece years ago so have been a disciple ever since however the time has come to share the street with another group.......Vocal Majority. Never thought this music would lend itself to barbershop harmony. Was I ever wrong!!!!

Pretty sure 6 people (dislikes at present) left their ears elsewhere when they were listening to this song. It amazes me that some people don't appreciate this song. To each their own I suppose.

A Picardy third refers to ending a minor-key piece in the major instead of the minor. (For instance, in the hymn tune Manchester, by Thomas Ravenscroft, a Picardy third would sharp the final G, changing the chord from E minor to E Major.) Since "Lullaby" is a major-key piece, the concept of Picardy third doesn't apply. What you hear is that the second-last chord of the tag is the tonic minor, but then the tenor (or is it the bari?) raises his pitch a half step to make the chord major again.
@sinfonian20137 жыл бұрын
You're right that it's not a Pickardy 3rd on the end! But, it's not a minor chord on the next to last chord; it's what we call a 2-3 suspension. The pitches in the next to last chord are the tonic Ab, Bb, and Eb. On the last chord, the person singing the Bb raises it a whole step to C, changing it from a suspension to an Ab major chord. (It's called a 2-3 suspension because the pitch Bb goes from a 2nd above the tonic note to a 3rd above.)

A good musician doesn't just take correct notes. It's so much more than that. Harmonies like that aren't just pretty notes. They're the musicians food and water. It's hard to survive without music. You have no heart or soul if you can live without music.
@MichaelaMarie201212 жыл бұрын
Nah. His breath support is just freakin' insane!!!! You should hear his longest posts...they're kinda ridiculous!! I know people that can circular breathe, but they're typically oboists and didgeridoo-ists. But it's pretty cool to see it done, though it it impossible to circular breathe when singing.

This comment string needs balance. This performance by Vocal Spectrum has all their typical effervescence with attention to timing and dynamics. In fact, this whole concert which I guess was Auckland 2007 has to be my favorite of theirs and I've seen hundreds on KZbin. For some reason they were in good concert voice this night. Probably has to do with the climate and a wonderfully receptive crowd.

I hope they never stop doing liturgical music. Don't get me wrong - I like the jazzy be bop Disney material they do but I also like the slower and more reverent religious music too. It is all part of the same barbershop tradition. I hope they never forget to do both.

This is the kind of video which makes one want to make tim-waurick-facts instead of chuck-norris-facts When Tim Waurick sings, Orpheus comes to listen to him. Tim Waurick never went to any auditions. The roles come to him and beg him to play them. There aren´t any notes too high for Tim Waurick´s range. Tim Waurick´s range is too high for the notes. Tim Waurick doesn´t sing like an angel, angels sing like Tim Waurick. Tim Waurick doesn´t read sheet music, the notes tell him evrything immediately

The first time I ever heard the song WAS the barbershop arrangement. I was at Director's College in 2001 and Saturday Evening Post was just there hanging out. They sang this in the lobby of the cafeteria and I was standing there leaning against a post with tears streaming down my face. I was so touched and amazed it was so beautiful.
@guibox312 жыл бұрын
I'd like to see you try to go longer than 18 seconds IN falsetto! It takes alot more out of you than a full voice post. I know as I sing barbershop tenor. I can belt out a high A and hold it for 30 seconds. Doing a strong falsetto, you're lucky if you can hold half that.
