I really like not having to bend over to put plastic chips or styrofoam blocks under the furniture legs with this method, where it's a must with truckmount cleaning!

I agree with you on the Rotary, I cleaned with truckmount and big Porty. 2010 I started cleaning the commercial accounts and residential that was previously extraction, the customers much preferred the rotary. traffic patterns were much cleaner. how do you treat carpet with urine?
@OxyDryCarpetCleaningKelowna2 сағат бұрын
Thank you, when you know, you know. I use stabilized CLo2 and saturate the area feeding it from the Rotary. I allow it to dwell for at least 15 minutes and then either extract with my portable or use dry pads. I have never had a call back when dealing with urine this way, but I do not run into this problem too often. I use bulk stabilized Clo2 I purchase from beckart.com

While carpet cleaning, my challenge is identifying the carpet fiber material. Most of my jobs I just use a neutral solution unless I Know for sure the fiber. Any tips on what would help me?
@OxyDryCarpetCleaningKelowna8 сағат бұрын
Knowing the fibre type is rarely important as the majority of broadloom carpet is synthetic anyway. Occasionally we will come across wool carpet but most of the modern products we clean with are neutral or close and are safe on wool anyway but be sure of the product you use and its ph rating and be careful with peroxide on wool. The greater concern is for area rugs as they can be wool or cotton or viscose or blends that can be problematic. If you are unsure how to identify a wool broadloom one thing you can do is go to a carpet store and take a look at one and if possible even take a Sample to refer to. Wool carpets will usually shed and will have a distinctive wet sheep smell when wet and if you do a burn test will have an ash that remains rather than melt.

@ProCleanersCarpetCleaningКүн бұрын
Can't do that with my rotary 😪 I can't find anyone who can fabricate a bracket to accommodate 10" wheels. So, if my client has wood stairs I will use the Oreck. Unless it's a horrible amount of square footage then I will have to carry it up the stairs which I absolutely hate to do. It's about 155 pounds, not fun. Nice little machine!

Hi Robin. Have you done any tests with the multi-brush and your centaur?
@OxyDryCarpetCleaningKelowna13 күн бұрын
I used the Multibrush for a few years over 20 years ago and used them a lot and while they certainly work there are some things to consider. The Multibrush is intended for use on commercial carpet and the brushes are quite stiff and some residential carpet will not tolerate this. The bristles will tend to collect and hold fibres and dirt and are very hard to clean and if you go from one job to another without cleaning the bristles they can transfer the soil into the next job and stain the carpet of it is a lighter one. I determined that the Multibrush was not worth the hassle of cleaning it and replaced them with fibre]pads and found they work better, are very inexpensive and are easy to clean or just replace as needed. I will occasionally use a brush but I have a soft bristle brush rather than a stiff one but for me the Multibrush is not something I consider as a viable option.

Excellent points about the dirt napper and multii brush system. Those factors alone make the fiber pads a better option. I keep stacks of them in the van and can change them out every job. Much easier to do than trying to clean them between jobs. Definitely don’t want to cross contaminate. Great info about the difference in rotaries too!

Hey - what pad driver are you using ? Centaur sells a black one studded with spikes (which I have) and one that looks more like a brush. I’m worried the black spikes might ruin my thin teway pads or the carpet…
@OxyDryCarpetCleaningKelowna17 күн бұрын
I have a few pad drivers and most of them have the Malish Instaloc grip which is similar to the Centaur pad driver. I have never had an issue with pad drivers on a rotary messing up the pads and I have never had the spikes penetrate through so I do not think it is a concern.

My car is super dirty I'm thinking about starting a carpet cleaning business or a car detailing one. I make money doing doordash and instacart in LA lol... I hope the Hushtone will be strong at the hose too since I intend to use it to clean my car. Do you ask residential customers to vacuum or move furniture beforehand?
@OxyDryCarpetCleaningKelowna22 күн бұрын
I always pre vacuum as it is the proper procedure to correct carpet cleaning. I ask people to move ornaments and breakables, plants and smaller items. I tell them to leave the bigger items such as couches where they normally sit. I move them if needed or asked as long as it is safe to do so and I normally do not move beds but in some cases I will. We only charge for the area cleaned so if a bed is not moved the area under it is not charged for as we charge by the sq ft.

That takes me back when I was 15 years old and a janitor at the local court house in Norfolk VA. That was how we cleaned carpet, in fact I still have one of the bonnets you first used. It's So wonder I love the S.E.T.T method so much better than steam cleaning because I started out with the old school method of bonnet cleaning. I'm now 49 years and I use the S.E.T.T method on my part time carpet cleaning business and my customers are always amazed at the results! Keep up the fantastic work my friend! 😊

If a pad (regardless of the brand & style) is overloaded with moisture/water, does it decrease that pads ability to extract soil?

Definitely, we want the moisture on the carpet to be drawn into the pad through capillary action and the agitation of the pad and wet is drawn toward the dry.

You are welcome, I expect most of the new guys do not know some of the history so I was glad to be able to share this and it adds context to where we are today. The other reason I wanted to do this is to show how primitive the beginnings were with the clumsy bucket dunk method and its inability to precisely control the amount of solution used and how it contrasts with what we are doing now. I still have never heard anyone explain where the term "bonnet" came from to describe the mop, but I guess it is at least better than calling it a "mop". If a new term to describe the mop had not been created perhaps today it would be called Rotary mop cleaning!

Found your video with shower feed! So no need to pre spray if I could shower feed? I’m doing two hotels in a couple weeks. I got cleared to do vlm over HWE extraction, thank God, but trying to find the most time efficient method. My uncle, who did bonnet cleaning in the 90’s with a 175, will be using the used koblenz I bought last week, and either I or my full time assistant will use the OP with shower feed that I have coming in on Tuesday. I’m thinking I’ll still use some hwe on the first floor if all 3 of us are available to try to get the job done in one day rather than the 3 they’re giving me. Im also thinking of renting a 175 to have 3 floor machines to make it easier. But the koblenz and rental don’t have solution tanks so I’ll definitely have to prespray for those.
