I think the problem is the lack of plants from the beginning. All soils have so many nutrients that you basically have to plant the entire tank to prevent algae growth. And of course, do daily water changes at least for a month.

wow.. you could have planted 3 tanks like that one with that soil and some other subtrates/gravel/sand and still have great nutrients and results 😅

If speed is of any concern to you, that's a long shaft on a short shaft boat. You'd either need to raise that engine up 5", convert it to a short shaft (not hard or expensive), or get a short shaft engine. Also, check your RPMs... it's not good to load them up too much and you need to be able to hit a certain RPM at WOT. For the 7.5, it needs to run between 5000-5500 RPM with 5200 being the target. If it's less than 5000 RPM, which it sounds like it is, then you'll need to go with a lower pitch prop or get that engine up higher so the ventilation plate (big flat thing above the prop) is about level with the bottom of the boat. You can use a $12 tiny tach to verify RPM. Hope that helps. She sure is a sweet runner.

I have the same engine and when you talk about the idle screw at 5.05 you mention unscrew one and seven-eighths ? what is one and seven eighthts in inches ? As I dont understand what it means please excuse my ignorance
