That really means though that the transistors are some sort of pcm memory storage, but just a shiftable one. I thought this would be about those pizo reflector things in PAL TVs.

Another great masterclass. I've learned more about electronics by watching a couple of your videos than I did when I was young and studying it. I wish it was taught like this in schools. Thank you very much for your work.

What a great series of videos, thanks a lot! Following the ladder filter series I have been able to notice that in the latest version of the schematic you have on Github, the initial summing stage is a little different and the values of the resistors of the resonance stage have the values indicated in your first implementation instead of the one in the last video. What circuit would you recommend I build, the one you explain in the video series or the last one you have on Github? Once again, thanks and congratulations on that work

I just saw that the one you have on github is just a low pass filter, now I understand the difference.

Wow! You made one of the best explanations of what compression is! But one question from an electronics newbie: At 6:24 the "Diode VCA" uses six diodes in series. I'm assuming 1N4148 with a 0,7 V forward voltage drop? Could you replace the three diodes above and below the central node with a single LED each? I've seen green and yellow LEDs which drop 2,1 V and should equal three 1N4148 in that regard or am i getting some things wrong here?

Reconstruction sampling instead of the traditional hardcore rolloff makes a huge difference in preserving the fidelity, and avoiding clock noise at very low frequencies. This means getting longer delays with smaller BBDs. Night and day... I'll definitely test this approach. Thanks for the amazing explanation and presentation.

In the early 80's, I had the privilege of meeting Jim Mothersbaugh at the Roland R&D department in Los Angeles where he was working. He told me a very interesting story. He said that at one time, Roland were experimenting with Bucket Brigade circuits to see how low they could get the resolution before the sound quality became unacceptable. During this experimentation, a certain feedback resonance occurred with very short delays with limited feedback. They kept a note of it because it's what became the TR 808 Clap.

This is genuinely one of the coolest analog projects I've ever seen. Going from a bunch of square waves to something that genuinely sounds like a piece of metal being hit, while being able to control all aspects of the sound, is crazy to me! and best of all, its just a big combination of blocks you've used before! Analog synth design is so wild, dude! I hope to get into it someday when I have the time and resources.

Great video. First knowing about BBD circuit. I recall back then, I owned a radio/cassette player that have a mode called SPACIAL, that create a sound effect being in a bigger room echo effect. Is that based on BBD or more simpler circuit?

also, the 3n3 and 2n2 capacitors confuse me as well as I cannot find them on an online shop. why is there another number after the "n"? Also, is a 15n capacitor a 15nF one, or is it different without the F?

Nice Work Moritz. at 26:08 you're describing a phenomenon of hardware compression: the exponential / logarithmic charge / discharge curves of capacitors, and nearly touched on the difference between hard knee and soft knee compression (though that is usually implemented by adding a diode in series with the final CV. I'm subscribing..!

Its actually a great starting point to make it for studio application Things to change. 1.More detailed VU output meter scaled in dB 2.Gain reductuon VU meter, analog or also in led array (i'd preffer analog) so i know if its actually makin' reduction -3dB for example. 3. Input and output socked on the back (to connect with patchbay and mixing console) 4. Bypass switch. 5. Im not sure about SIDE in input.. if also on back, or in front.. it could be on back, and then additional switch to use it or not. So this input could be also in patchbay 6. two paralell supply sockets to easly stack up multiple of these compressors next to each other. Im tryin to design PCB for this application. Also i've changed almost all components for SMD, to make it more compact. Also making potentiometers off-board allows to make stereo version of this compressor. Just two of these boards and stereo pots.

In manual, every pot is described as "Axxx" Are they all linear or log? its a bit confussing since sometimes A-stands for log, and in other countries A - stands for linear. I guess, all of them should be linear, but im not 100% sure.

Hi Moritz, hope you doing well. May i ask if there's an updated schematic available? I did build the Tombola spring reverb circuit using 1 TL074 but i have some issues/doubts with it. Grounding the Return sleeve? Yes or no. I did both with different results. The eq knob is changing my vco square sound a lot when set to hi. Uhm lets see. Im using an hammond tank and although i hear the springs ploink when tapping on it, and sounds as it should but its like if the audio goes not go through when i use the blend knop. Overall not great, so any advice or an updated circuit would be great. Thanks in advance for your help.

I did post a comment the other day and it seems to have disappeared. I asked if a breadboard diagram could be added. I ask because I find it really hard to transpose from a circuit diagram to the breadboard. Also because I cannot see the colour bands on the resistors clearly.
I bought one of these in the 80s, threw it out a couple of years ago. I was trying to make a delay on voice but after seeing your video I can see where I went wrong😆

I'm just wondering if there's circuit that somehow increases its effective spring constant with amplitude? There are acoustic systems whose resonant frequencies increase as the amplitude of vibration increases. The most obvious is a drum head. I don't know if this effect is due to a nonlinear stress strain curve in the membrane or a quadratic effect of "ideal spring" behavior in two dimensions, or if it's the circular boundary condition, or what, but is there any circuit that mimics those conditions?
@eduardoandreasguitar17 күн бұрын
I do believe the 1M ohm resistor is actually setting ideal input impedance for instruments just like in Guitar Amps and pedals. If these Op amps are anything like tubes (I believe they are) the input impedance should be really high like almost infinite, so putting a resistor in series wouldn't affect it. But in parallel it literally sets input impedance to 1M ohms. And I also think it has some other functions like reducing noise.

@MoritzKlein019 күн бұрын
@@marlstormqc494 the FM input allows you to modulate the frequency of the oscillator with a control signal (an LFO, an envelope etc.) it’s similar to the v/oct input, but does not work to play melodies from a v/oct sequencer.

Cpu cycles for dosbox , by setting it to very high. Fixes audio problems as well, when a vdeo overlads the device, the audio is still normal. Usually it's the other way around, the video is perfect, and the audio is faulty.
