Do you find success with conventional fishing rod in fly fishing areas? I see a lot of rivers that are nice for fly fishing but I don’t fly fish myself. Do you think I could go there with a regular rod and be successful?

@@stitch4785 I have fished this stream with a regular rod as well and actually catch more! Can’t go wrong with an ultra light set up and some worms 🪱

I fish some pretty tight streams for native brookies in southern nh. I have never fly fished for them, though. What is the shortest rod that I could get away with?

Yeah some spots are very difficult to fly fish but I’m pretty sure you can get 6’ fly rods I use a 7’6” 3wt rod perfect for this kind of fishing!

I love your videos! Do u fish in Southern New hampshire at all? I have quite a few really good native brookie spots within 30 minutes of my house in manchester! I would be willing to trade spots if you have anything within 45 minutes or so of manchester.

It depends you can use the reel I find it easier to pull the line in bc it’s quicker in my opinion

@@Nhfisherman that's kinda what I thought. With all the extra line I figured it would be hard to reel in the extra line quickly enough to set the hook. I'd like to learn fly fishing. I live in a really good area for it we have tons of rivers that you are only allowed to fly fish in pisgah Forrest here

Very cool! I'm 14 and started native brookie fishing this spring. I live in manchester so it is very hard to find natives. A few days ago I caught an absolute giant! it was probably 12 inches plus and I caught it only 10 minutes away from manchester at a very secret spot. From my understanding, 10 inches plus is a trophy for native brookies from most of the articles I have read. What is the biggest native you have caught in NH? I'm trying to gauge how big a 12 inch native is.

I’m not to familiar with that area but I bet you if you explore around smaller streams you’ll be able to find native brook trout. Not saying there isn’t any wild bows or browns up there bc there might be!

Gunstock river in gilford has been stocked! If you around that area at all I’m also from the lakes region area but drive around the state more to find spots. For trout at least!
