@@missgangsmashers737 Thank You so much for critiquing the music 💗. Yes she should have won....I saw her competitors movies and I would not watch them again. Garland's movie even had poor, poor editing...even though Dorothy wanted her to win , if she did not. I love Grace Kelly's work, but COUNTRY GIRL was a bore....

I loved brazilian bossa nova rhythm. Dorothy was here in Brazil three times.
@dorothyjeandandridgeАй бұрын
@@DanielaSantos-mf1wv Yes she was...I will keep that music in mind for some other videos. Heard this through listening to some of my music selection and I chose it. ...due to the intro and her lovely smile. Hard to believe she had stage fright and had panic attacks before performing at night clubs. Here her sweetness and engaging behavior is why so many loved her presence...along with her beauty.
@dorothyjeandandridgeАй бұрын
@@DanielaSantos-mf1wv with this bossa nova sound I guess I lucked out on placing it on here ...I knew I wanted something elegant and breezy by her being at the airport. Ironically, Nancy Wilson which is another favorite of mine, she was whom Dorothy called her replacement at the night clubs. Dandridge hated doing what she called the supper clubs, but noticed when they stopped booking her for engagements...Wilson was taking over.

While reading a 1977 Downbeat interview with Dexter Gordon (available in a great collection called "The Great Jazz Interviews)I saw that Dexter mentioned the band being in this movie(Dex is first visible around :49 in the sax section,and throughout a good portion of the musical performance) Dexter also mentions the band being in a movie called "Pillow to Post" that starred Ida Lupino(I having checked that out yet)

It's sad how they used to want people of color to make all kinds of exaggerated facial expressions for their muse and entertainment purposes. Dorothy had the perfect face.
