Im amazed at how many people take the back-and-forth motion approach with the laser (like a printer). Use FlatCAM or a vector converter to convert your tracks into vector lines then just set the laser to move along the lines (like a CNC machine, which is what this actually is), burning off the paint as it goes. It takes the laser time down from about an hour to 2 minutes, saving your laser from overworking and saving you time.

It’s an Air Wick refil. I don’t know if you can find it online, but I bought some here on a local supermarket.

did you try to itch the copper with the laser itself? it might take multiple iterations, but in theory it can work!

You need a big old laser to etch copper directly. The problem is copper conducts heat way too quickly for a diode laser to burn it, as soon as the pinpoint of the laser hits the copper, the heat from the laser just dissipates instantly. A CO2 laser will probably work and a fibre laser will definitely burn copper, the problem you'll have then is once the laser has penetrated the copper, it will be at such a high power that it will almost instantly burn through the board underneath, you'd have to work out the perfect feed rate of the laser so it burns through the copper but doesnt have enough time to burn through the board.

Cara, tentei com caneta de marcar CD, tinta de tecido preta, tinta PVA preta, tinta preta brilhante todas da Acrilex e tinta spray da Renner (para metal). Meu laser marca todas as tintas na placa, mas não remove, só queima. Passando o dedo sai um pouco, mas mal chega no cobre. Tenho um laser de 30W da Neje, ele corta papel A4 branco triplo com 50% da potência, corta madeira e plástico. Tentei velocidades e potências diferentes e não consegui um resultado decente. O que pode ser?

I was wondering if you could make the PCB by using the laser to fuse copier toner. The idea would be to put a thin layer on top of the copper without fusing it - as would be done in powder coating, then selectively fuse the toner with the laser. I am curious if anyone has tried this. BTW - very good video. I am planning on buying a laser engraver to make PCBs.

Ive taken a reverse photocopy and ironed it on to a copper board for etching. The iron heats up the toner and it sticks to the copper. So yes, you absolutely can use toner.

Good vídeo. I tried with spray acrilic paint and 5w laser. But is like paint has any tipe of dirty or silicone that do a problem with acid attack
