Do it. I have a Surface Duo that I'm not using anymore but I'm seriously considering turning it into a dedicated DS/3DS emulator. It's perfect for almost every portable game that uses 2 screens.

This is a revisit as Xemu updated (again) and certain Xbox games that ran like a dog's dinner on Steam Deck now run better. It's not a total home run but considering how hard it is to reverse engineer an emulator, I'll take what I can get. In my previous Orta on Deck video, the first stage ran perfectly but afterward, the game ran in slow motion. A testament to how much I like Panzer Dragoon games, I actually finished Orta on Deck when it ran slow. Playing the game last night I immediately noticed that the frame rate is much better after stage one, but alas, there is another issue that popped up. Randomly, the Deck's screen will go black never to return unless a force quit (Steam button) and restarting the game. We're almost there...

I hope ShadPS4 gets to a point where the Omega Collection also works fine. Or PSVita Emulation gets fast enough for Wipeout 2048. The Vita Version only had 30FPS, but man...those sounds are much better than the PS4 Version in Omega.
@LogainAblar10 күн бұрын
I read in a couple of places that there is a method to get 2048 running at 60fps emulated but I never got it to work. I understand why Studio Liverpool went with 30FPS. The graphic fidelity in 2048 is better than HD Fury on PS3. They had to choose between higher frame rate or better visuals and they choose visuals. I would have preferred higher frame rate but as mentioned, I get it. In gaming in general higher frame rate is almost always preferred over better visuals for me but great visuals can be addictive for many. Having never played the Omega Collection I can't compare the sound between 2048 and it but I recently broke out my PSVita Slim and played WipeOut 2048 on it and the sound is still phenomenal by today's standards. Sony really blew it when they abandoned that device. Switch would not be dominant as it is today if Sony would have stayed the course and fought back. But I digress. Maybe Sony will surprise us all and with a Omega Collection port considering they seem to be struggling creatively when yet another God of War was just announced. I'd rather have WipeOut than another God of War.
@Eispfogel10 күн бұрын
@@LogainAblar I don't know---after closing down Studio Liverpool....they haven't shown any interest in anything Wipeout. It could have gotten PSVR2 support and whatnot...but nothing...i think they have forgotten about this Franchise :/ And i prefer 60FPS or higher too, but i think they also chose 30FPS because of better battery life. Oh Sony....they got have been great, but instead they went in another direction with their games, or rather Live Service stuff... At least we have Emulation ^^
@LogainAblar11 күн бұрын
For the longest time WipeOut HD simply would not run well emulated on Steam Deck under any circumstances. Decided to give it a try today after installing a series of updates, I was shocked to see performance is a lot better than what it used to be. It's still not ideal for regular play sessions but there is improvement. Playing Zones or Time Trials the game is playable with some frame rate drops at times. Playing a race with a full grid and weapons enabled is where the pain starts. Frame rate is unplayable. Sony hates us which is why The Omega Collection isn't on PC, so emulating the WipeOut series will have to do. I'll gladly wait for better optimization of the emulator to be able to play WipeOut HD on Steam Deck. Psygnosis...you are missed.

Wow, I was really happy when Savage Moon ran on my Steam Deck. I originally bought and played this years ago on PS3 when PSN was still new. Being a big fan of tower defense games after playing a few on Android previously, this was right up my alley. Game play and presentation are excellent but what really floored me was the sound. The weapons of war all have really great sound as you rain death upon the alien horde. Especially the missile launchers. Good times, I spent so many days playing this back in the day. Runs fine on Steam Deck, controls are perfect too. Recommended. I'll revisit this in future once I get further into the game. Later planets are madness with what is thrown at you. Too bad I can't transfer my old game save...

This is a revisit video as I posted a ReCore video a few weeks back. The more I play the game, the more impressive it becomes. The exploration reminds me a little of Zelda especially with the dungeons. The way bot companions work makes me wish Astral Chain worked in a similar fashion. Art direction is excellent and the environments are well designed but the devs didn't go crazy trying to make a huge "too big for its own good" open world. The bot companions have a lot of character with some great animations and Joule (the main character) is well designed too. The game runs really well on Steam Deck and for the uninitiated, I'm playing using dual touch pads and gyro. Mouse and keyboard bindings assigned to the Steam Deck. I mention this because ReCore has a auto lock on feature but I don't use it. Dual touch pads and gyro are so accurate that I simply haven't needed the lock on feature. That's not to say I'll never use it because I have no idea what crazy boss is waiting for me at the end of the game that may require it. But generally speaking, on Steam Deck, I've found that at this point maybe 40 or 50% through the game, I haven't needed it.

I gave Sno a try after seeing video of it and it looked really relaxing. After spending some time with the game, it actually is relaxing and built for pick and play sessions. Very easy to jump into and has that addictive "just one more run" quality. I had to edit down this video quite a bit because the original plan was to record 5 or 6 minutes of footage, but that ballooned over 40 minutes before I knew it. Art direction is very clean, easy to read the landscape at high speeds. I absolutely love the sun rise time of the day and how the orange and yellow tones cover the mountain with the sun in the background. Great stuff. Controls seemed too loose initially but after a short time growing accustomed, they were excellent. Added to my wishlist, recommended.

This is based on a anime inspired character illustration that was created in Sketchbook Pro. I wondered what it would be like to animate it. So I took a few days coming up with a simple animation for it using Krita and purposed it as a Steam Deck boot animation. Initially I wanted to do this using Sketchbook Pro but its animation functions are too limited. I considered creating this in Moho Pro (which I may do for the next version) but currently there are still some advanced functions in Moho I can't wrap my mind around. This will be expanded on in future but for now, it was a test to see if those future plans were viable using Krita, which is surprisingly robust for freeware. It's like the Blender of digital art applications.

I finally got around to playing Sifu and it inspired a lot of feelings. It makes me think of two separate games from the past. Kung Fu Master (or Kung Fu as it was called on NES) and Shen Mue. As I was playing through the first stage I couldn't shake the feeling that Sifu felt like what I'd imagine a sequel or remaster of Kung Fu Master being. Especially the fight scene in the hallway. After beating the hell out of a room full of drug pushers, Shen Mue came to mind. I enjoyed Shen Mue 1 and 2. Didn't care for 3 because a lot of the flaws in 1 and 2 weren't addressed. I'm not a huge fan of playing online these days but Sifu makes me want to go back and try Absolver. Great game, runs really well on Steam Deck with no adjustments, just run it.

I can't find a way to start it on my steamdeck with emudeck. I'm stuck at the static image when cemu tries to load the game. Did you encounter any problem? If yes, how did you solve them?
@LogainAblar26 күн бұрын
I haven't played Bayonetta 2 in awhile on Steam Deck but I never had that problem. There are too many things that could be wrong though. If other WiiU games run without problems then the issue could be the Bayonetta 2 ROM itself. If no WiiU games run at all, then that could be the Cemu install. If I was having this problem, I'd use the process of elimination to figure out what the skinny is. Personally, the only game that I've tried on Cemu/Steam Deck that I simply can't get to run well is Monster Hunter 3.

No spoilers in this video. Love the rework for the starter Warframes. Well designed and excellent voice acting. Nyx has a special place in my heart as she was one of the very first Warframes I built so many years ago. Volt was my starter Frame because I wanted the energy shield. It seemed fitting to use Nyx though. A gorgeous woman that's infected, extremely violent and uses mind control. It's kinky and true to life! Anyways, the fact that Digital Extremes and Warframe get ignored while Destiny 2 still gets uplifted even after Bungie pretty much gave up on future content is a disgrace. 343 whined about how campaign content for Halo is too hard, lames. Yet DE are still going strong after 11 years.

Of all the Aragami in this game, Ra has my number. He's the equivalent of Gold Rathalos in Monster Hunter: Freedom for me. After kicking the ass of every other monster in the game, there's that ONE that gives you pause each time he shows up. Funny thing, I haven't finished God Eater 3 yet so I'm sure I haven't seen the worse to come. Great game, one of three really good Monster Hunter alternatives I've enjoyed, the other two being Soul Sacrifice and Freedom Wars.

I played the original release of ReCore on Xbox One with my dad. We were having a blast until we got to a point when the performance struggled a bit which made a boss battle harder than it should have been. Yes, it was janky and yes the Xbox One wasn't as capable as it should have been. Now that I've finally played the definitive version, the potential shines through even today, even on Steam Deck. I don't know who owns the IP but if MS does own it, ReCore 2 could have been a good sequel for Series X/S. PS5 sells better than Xbox Series X/S by far specifically because PS5 has a better library. PS5 has better exclusives. No Phil, you're wrong. It IS about the games. I'd pay good money for ReCore 2.

Same as you would any other DS/3DS specific function in a game. Assign that function to a button. If you're running the game using MelonDS emulator (as an example) go into Config/Input and Hotkeys/General Hotkeys and you will see that closing and opening the lid can be assigned to a specific button.

This brings back so many great memories and a bit of sadness. At a time when Sony swore 2D gaming was dead after launching Playstation, Sega and Capcom (among others) said "hold on now..." X-Men vs Street Fighter is hands down one of the best fighting games released during that era and it was pretty much arcade perfect on Saturn. It was also proof that 2D pixel games were still viable in the 3D console era. I haven't played a Capcom VS game in years so I'll post another video of X-Men vs Street Fighter when I remember how to really play it. A classic from a long gone era. Good times man, good times.

Wow, RollerDrome is fantastic. Great game that really shines on portable PCs for quick pick up and play sessions. I'm shocked this isn't on Switch. Initially the learning curve with the controls threw me off. I abandoned the controller layout in Steam Input and switched over to a customized PC layout so I could use the gyro and right trackpad "as mouse" for better camera control and WASD for the left trackpad. Roll7 made the game control as if you're on actual skates so the steering felt "off" at first and you don't have to hold "up" to continue to move forward. But once I got the hang of it, RollerDrome became addictive as hell. Arcade style gaming at its finest and very stylish.

Like WaveRace: Blue Storm, PilotWings: Resort is the kind of game that's really relaxing to play but incredible hard to master. Meaning, if you're not going for 3 Star and just want to fly and jetpack around the island taking in the sights, the game is very relaxing. Soundtrack is phenomenal too. But when you try to get the highest rank for the missions, it can be infuriating. Not because the game is bad at higher levels but because of the level of precision that's demanded to even have a chance at those rewards. But I will say this, getting that three star rating makes you feel like you actually did something awesome. Would love to see Pilotwings make a return on Switch 2 or whatever Nintendo is going to call it.

This is another DS game I had on my list to try but never got around to it. I played through, maybe 45% of the original Gamecube version with an ex-girlfriend as that game absolutely demanded co-op because of the Chalice. We had a blast playing it and she loved using the combo spells. I gave Rings of Fate a go the week prior and was surprised at how good it actually plays. It's kinda like what I'd imagine a 3D isometric Secret of Mana to be like. The story so far is typical SquareEnix fare with a focus on kids (considering twin children are the main characters) but the gameplay so far has been good. Great use of the touch screen too. Unfortunately, I have to play this one strictly solo.

Custom Robo Arena is like Pokemon but with customizable mechs instead of cuddly animals. Initially I finished Custom Robo on GameCube many years ago and really liked it. It made me imagine what a isometric Virtua On would be like. Although I finished the Gamecube version I never got around to playing the DS version. After giving it some time last week, it's just as fast and furious as the GameCube version. Hopefully the ending will be good too because the final Robo in the GameCube version was god-tier. It took a team of four to bring it down, three of us went down hard during the battle and I had to use illegal parts just to have a chance of winning. It was amazing.

Runs great on Deck and Steam Input allows to give the game dual analog support when it didn't have it on PSP (assign the camera controls on the D-Pad to the right analog after you change Right Analog output from Analog Stick to Directional Pad). The camera still won't be that great but it's playable with some patience with good presentation.

This was a quick and dirty recording of Black Myth: Wukong, meaning it was spur of the moment with no prep. I tried to capture more of it last weekend but my Steam Deck kept having problems with it. GPU Recorder in desktop mode worked but the game stutters like crazy. I tried Decky Recorder in Game Mode, it ran a bit better but the videos kept getting corrupted. So, in a nutshell, if the question is "can I play Wukong on Deck" so far the answer is "yes, kinda." I had to use extensive FSR (mine is set to the lowest setting 45) with all other settings set to "low" to get better frame rate. I tried to run the game at 45 and 30 fps but the frame pacing was terrible resulting in a experience that wasn't as smooth as it should have been. Ironically, even with settings at "low" the games warns this is too high for the Deck. I'll revisit after the game receives a couple of updates considering Wukong isn't Deck verified. But as far as Steam Deck goes, it does run. The game itself is fun. A awesome Chinese Souls game so if you're into Souls games and are done with Elden Ring then Black Myth: Wukong is definitely worth a look.

Tango Gameworks made Ghostwire Tokyo and Hi-Fi Rush and somehow Microsoft thought it was a good idea to close the studio? Good games developed at a time when Microsoft is in desperate need of good games for their platform and the reward for their efforts is a shut down? Make it make sense. I've put a few hours into Ghostwire: Tokyo and it's been a good time. I was worried about performance on Steam Deck but the solution is simple really. If you want to run the game at 60FPS, use FSR 2. If you want better visuals with a more stable frame rate, turn off FSR entirely, run the game at 30FPS and adjust the graphics output to increase the quality a bit without tanking the frame rate. Yes, I'd prefer 60fps at least but FSR can be hit or miss. Thankfully Tango Gameworks has been saved recently but this is definitely not a good look for Microsoft. MS is going to release Indiana Jones and other Xbox Series titles on PS5 to increase sales and Phil Spencer is pimping the decision as "good business." Yet you don't see Nintendo crying about the lack of sales for their exclusives to the point they'd have to become Sony's b*tch and pimp their wares on rival hardware. Sony sure as hell aren't putting Playstation exclusives on Xbox. So what does this mean? Microsoft is failing so badly with Xbox at this point that they're desperate. Love them or hate them but exclusives are a necessary tool to inspire hardware sales and build brand loyalty. Put Halo on Playstation and a large number of people would never buy an Xbox at all. Remove exclusives and consoles move even closer to simply becoming PCs.

You have to provide more details. Are playing with a controller or the Steam Deck controls? If the camera is drifting that could be the usual camera drift of analog sticks after they wear down over time. The other thing you can check are the dead zones. Drifting can happen in some games if there is no dead zone set in Steam Input controller settings. This has happened to me a couple of times.
