Hi there! Beautiful video. My name is Adrien, and I am a producer for The Weather Network. My team and I are creating a segment on the most beautiful trails in BC, and we would love to use parts of this video. Would you agree to give us permission to share parts of the video in our segment on @meteomedia /@weathernetwork and our Pelmorex Corp. properties, with onscreen credit to you? Thanks in advance!

Skied across the lake a few time when we shied up to the Wapta Icefield and Bow Hut. From there we skied to the top of Mt Gordon. Mt Rhonda, Mt Phillips. Did night skiing by moonlight on the Slope down Mt Gordon about the hut. Once we built Igloos and slept in it. Beautiful area.

Climbed temple and get a photo of Mt Hungabee then Hungabee with a photo of Temple and Paradice Valley in between. Which I hiked years earlier. Some of the best hiking and climbing in the world right here in our back yard in ALBERTA.

Beautifully edited, friends. Exactly the review I was hoping to find. For anyone else with the same questions as me, you can see the toughest rope-climbing sections start at 4:50. The All Trails review makes it sound so scary but you guys make it look pretty doable. Thanks again! - Tim & Kristine

The Onion is definitely one of our faves and we think it has the best return on effort ratio of the Banff hikes we’ve done. As to what to choose, it depends on the level of experience, fitness, available time and weather. Which hike were you thinking of doing?

> The diversity of landscape is the priority when I make choices If that is a priority, The Onion is an excellent choice. It was one of the most diverse hikes we have completed. Have you seen our Cirque Peak video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHPSm3qhnrOjedksi=iW6glJ67oYqg9K3k)? It's on the other side of the road from The Onion, has similar difficulty, and the terrain is diverse, but not as much. Past the ~60% mark, the terrain almost looks like it belongs to another planet having very interesting and colorful geology. > Big beehive + devil's thumb We almost did once, but only had to time partially complete it. It was lovely, but one important consideration is that this hike is in a tourist hot spot and it will be much busier. > and have you seen the ice cave during the onion trail Ah! We missed it. We'll have to look for it once we repeat this hike if it still exists.

@@peak_pursuits got it. Did you feel it's easy to keep the right direction in the Onion? I've been total wildness place several time, I know how easy to get lost even with Alltrails maps ... If you didn't see the ice cave , maybe it disappeared just like the huge ice chamber in the Saskatchewan Glacier, it collapsed this Feb. what a pity ...

The rock scrambling... I don't see a clear path. Is this well defined?
@peak_pursuits
@peak_pursuits 6 ай бұрын
The best path is the one recommended by Parks Canada - link here: parks.canada.ca/pn-np/ab/banff/activ/escalade-scrambling/temple. Unfortunately we don’t have a footage of the correct path. At 4:05, you can see us scrambling up a potentially dangerous gully (in the Parks Canada Guide, it’s Gully 2 of Section 5). The correct path is to the right of that, although it may not be obvious. Look for yellow and blue painted squares and make sure to follow the markers along the trail. Happy hiking! 🥾✌️

Thanks Harlan! We've only used our iPhones to film so it's great to hear your positive feedback. We had an older version of GoPro and found that the stabilization was practically non-existent and the shots were very difficult to colour correct. So we ditched the GoPro and have since only used the cameras on our phones. 😄

@@peak_pursuits Yes of course. Your videos are short sweet and to the point. It's a nice content creating style. I know everyone has their own style of making outdoor videos and each style is unique and interesting. I like your videos because they reveal just enough footage and info to spark someone's interest to go there also. For example the Jade Pass video. Never heard of it before watching your video, so now I know that if I'm in that area I will defenetly try to include it in my schedule. So yeah I would definitely say to keep doing more videos. There are so many hikes and backpacking trips in BC alone that we won't be able to get bored of the outdoors. So blessed to live in literally Beautiful British Columbia :)

We appreciate your input and are very happy to hear that you enjoy our content. 😊 Totally agree with you on discovering new places. We used to live in Vancouver and would only hike in the Lower Mainland. After moving to the Interior we started exploring more, not just popular/iconic hikes in the Rockies, but also those that are less trafficked and/or underrated. The trails in Revelstoke and Glacier National Park are just some of them, and we feel extremely lucky to be able to explore these places and share our experience while we're at it. We're currently working through a backlog of videos from our hikes this season, so stay tuned! Hope we can keep inspiring you and your wife with all that beautiful BC and surroundings have to offer. 🏔️❤️

I ended up doing that hike alone last fall. Due to several compounding reasons I wasn't quite able to get to the top, but close. Amazing spectacular hike. But I really found it tough - all that boulder hopping that just goes on and on really gets old, and the "trail", where it exists, is constantly so hard to find and stay on when you're a ways past the lake. I can't wait to go back!

@@peak_pursuits I have a followup question regarding use of drone.. I am considering getting 1 and live in Vancouver. Are there "geo-zones" or other areas that make it simply not usable either by law or otherwise?
@peak_pursuits
@peak_pursuits Жыл бұрын
For hikers with drones, the zones to be concerned about are provincial and national parks which never allow drone flight. Luckily, the Vancouver area still has a lot of mountains and hikes that are outside these protected area. Some examples include Mount Harvey and Brunswick Mountain (which we recently published a video about kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJuwc5enad1pfLM). You can find more information about the restricted zones at nrc.canada.ca/en/drone-tool/, but the tool strangely does not include provincial parks. Be mindful that any drone heavier than 150g requires it to be registered and that the pilot gets a license. Sorry about the super late reply. It took us a while to get used to the comment UI in KZbin Studio.
