This sounds killer! I'd just give it more fizz, but that's because I like fizz. I have the exact same setup but usually run the GX through a Fryette PS100 😁

It's not a phaser, it's stereo chorus. It was basically GK's take on the Rockman.

Bought one of these back in the day... Was trying to get heavier tones... I took it back and just got a boost pedal for my 120-watt head... It is good for what it's meant for though

@@None888. Yeah, it's not ideal for super heavy tones but it works great for 80s metal and such. Well, I guessing the Grunge distortion does heavyweights well enough but nothing like a 5150 or something like that.

@@AndreiGrozea They are out there, prices are just on the high side. You can always look for a teal Ultra 60 or 120, it's basically the same preamp just not in stereo.

There is the Kartakou Colossus preamp. Its not the same but might be easier to get and be a little more reliable.

@@RyanRossell Yep, straight into the amp. It's basically a solid state version of the Ultra series tube amp. Every tight and articulate with a lot of gain.

Sounds like the good years to me. Peavey 60/60 is really nice in my opinion, always liked the bang for the buck in them. I got a 120/120 and it is a 4 cab beast and weighs like one too.

@@aeugmk2 Thanks! I agree on the 60/60 too. It's a really solid power amp and built like a tank. I wanted a 120/120 but I just couldn't justify THAT much power, haha. Was kind of worried about the lack of presence / resonance knob but once I plugged into it, those worries immediately went away. This thing is insanely loud as is and has no shortage of the chest thumping chugs. It pairs very well with the Rock Master.

@@alexmortar Yes, it has two 12AX7s that it can use for distortion. It doesn't really have a tone stack though, you just use a graphic eq to tailor the sound. You also can't run the eq before the gain stages, at least not that I am aware of.

@@AlienPizzaZombie Thank you! I agree, it would be cool if they made a comeback. Solid state doesn't have the same stigma that it used to have so I think something like a new GX130C (maybe with more power) would do well.

I have a Boss GT-5 which I think is the same thing in a floor pedal format. The 5150 model is probably what I use most of the time.

@@michaelbuczko4967 Yes, you can run it into an IR loader. It helps to have a power amp sim as well but I wouldn't say that's 100% necessary.

Have you ever used the BossGX700 in a band setting? If so how did it set in the mix and is it hard to program? Im curious because I was thinking about getting one. Great playing in your videos also..

@@mikepadgett8074 Thank you! I have not used the GX700 in a band setting but I am sure it would be fine with a decent power amp and cab. Bolt Thrower uses them so they can definitely get the jobs done. Programming it is super easy too, probably one of of the easiest multi-fx units to use.
