Thanks! Also, Gong team rider Malo G. (this year's GWA world champ) recommend lending with frontwing =0down, not tail down, they tell that landing tail down will very quickly pop your board out of the water and you will crash, here's his tutorial: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXmqhqWnnJurns0

So is this a sinker for you given you're 95kg and the board is 75litres?
@foilsleeve89062 жыл бұрын
Technically, yes. But in reality I can kneel on it to start and it’s floating. Easy. When I’m riding it and drop off the foil, the board will gradually sink to my ankles. But I ride this in any wind. No problem. I also have a 50ltr - now that sinks when I kneel on it. I’m kneeling in water up to my stomach with the 50 :-)

Whats the point of the double concave again if the flat bottom makes release faster? I thought the double concave was created to reduce drag and for a faster release? It seems like board shapers are going back and forth on double concave vs flat

Great review mark. I currently ride the 2021 5”0 and have struggled with it getting going in choppy water due to it being unstable and rolling as you are on your knees trying to grab the wing. I’m a 75kg intermediate, would you advise on the 5”0 in the 2022? Is it quite a bit more stable or would you go 5”2? Cheers
@foilsleeve89062 жыл бұрын
The 22 is much more stable than the 21 - I’d stick with the 5.0… no need to go bigger with the new shape :-)

These techniques are very similar to windsurfing. Another tip, curl your toes, it'll prevent your feet slipping out of the straps. Show the underside of the board to the wind, it'll create more lift, although to be fair wing boards are pretty small so may have limited effect. 🤙👍

Foil tracks with a static bolt setup? Wasn’t the point of moving from tuttle to tracks to allow fine tuning of the foil mast based on different conditions and wings? Hmmm …..
@foilsleeve89062 жыл бұрын
Nah... with tracks you find your perfect position. Then, if you don’t ever move your foil... many don’t... you can lock the Nutz. Just less crap to set up :-) if you constantly move your foil... don’t use the screws and leave them free

Last year they told us every feature was the best, this year they're obsolete...go figure. For the amount of time you're on the board as supposed to foil it doesn't really matter.

Hi there. Things move fast and I’m now riding a 5.0 70ltr fanatic sky wing. I think inflatables are great if you need to travel... but they are simply not as good as hard boards due to the lack of nose rocker and rails. When inflatables touch down, they stick! Great for convenience, but not performance

Great tips thanks. What position is the wing in when you initiate the jump ? Do you send it like a kite or just keep it in one position and pop?
@foilsleeve89063 жыл бұрын
You need to olly the board and pump the wing together as you boost... then extend your arms and let the wind just take you. So you parachute up... and then come down soft!

This is a really great video straight to the point and the land-based format works well. I'm thinking of getting a 5.4 Fanatic Skywing. Seems like a good choice for an intermediate wingfoiler of about 87kg... thoughts?
@foilsleeve89063 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback on the video! I really rate my sky wing. Really good volume distribution - and amazing build quality. I literally hit a boat with mine - don’t ask - and there was not a scratch on it. The foil box is right on the tail, and that seems to work well. Recommended 👍

Nice review, I'm 92kg, what size of wing do you recommend to start? I'm a kitesurfer, windsurfer i do sup also (can you supfoil with a 5,5?).thks!!
@foilsleeve89063 жыл бұрын
Hi - I’m 90kg so very similar. In terms of foil wing to start, you need something 2000cm.. you can go bigger, but I don’t think you need to. Bigger wings like 2400cm are really slow. I’m terms of SUP, short boards might have the volume... at least 120ltrs for you and me... but that much volume in a short board makes it very ‘corky’ and bloody had to paddle! My sup foil board is 6.5 and goes great. Any combo foil and wing board is a huge compromise I’m afraid

Cool and simple solution. I am on the process of making my harness mount. I just avoid aluminium for it breaks so easily and makes sharp edge when it snaps. I'll add a safety leach for the cam, and will include some fuse part of some kind in case of crash with the pole somehow entangled.
@dgraffe3 жыл бұрын
Looking great!! I also thought about filing like that... did you have any leash tangles in that thing? Or some other issues with that because of the increased radius of the pole?
@foilsleeve89063 жыл бұрын
I did notice the wing clipped the camera a couple of times during jibes. But no biggie. And had plenty of crashes! It’s pretty solid - just need to use a plate each side of the mount to the harness.

Hi - yup, I’ve sup foiled it. Take the foot straps off. Easy to stand on, stable, but It’s a pretty tough paddle... very hard to get real board speed. I ended up using white water to get me into the wave. My 6.7 is much more fun for sup foil as it’s less work. Might be better to prone foul the HiPE 👍
