12:57 Honestly, I think this is my favorite song in this movie! Also, Lin Manuel Miranda sings the English parts of this song. I believe he did all the music in this movie. Or at least a lot of it.

It's actually perfectly reasonable to speak of "piloting" a boat, so don't feel bad. 🙂

I had to see this movie three times before I decided I liked it. I think I was turned off by the majority of the adults in the family ignoring her, or seeming to lack sensitivity. I also realized she was a bit blinded herself about her own generation's sibling/cousins' gifts & how some gifts can be (heavy &/or raising expectations about their use, that is) But I watched it a second time, then the third & by then decided I liked it a lot - altho I missed a lot of the symbolism mentioned in the comments below, which might have made it easier for me to understand. I, myself, was the first of my generation to go to college (neither my parents or grandparents had gone) & I felt the pressure/responsibility to choose a career that would provide a generally reliable (financially) long career (nursing), to please my parents, where I might have gone into one of the arts or a different science that encouraged me to keep learning, rather than have to stick with "protocol". As it was, I got compliments my whole nursing career about my art, & kept burning out on my chosen career & having to take minimum-level clerical jobs between nursing jobs to make ends meet until I could face going back into the hospitals. So maybe this movie hit me in a sensitive spot - acknowledging where my true love (& calling) was, & that I never seemed to make a penny out of it, so back to nursing I'd go. In my next life, I will make the choice for me, not let my parents sway me so much.

I was crying right along with you; bless your heart. I had put off seeing Coco because I wasn't sure I wanted to see a "cartoon" about death (or The Day of the Dead) altho' I think it's a wonderful tradition. But when I finally relented to myself, I fell in love with it the very first time seeing it - so colorful & rich in the art, such a rich story. It remains one of my favorite animated movies. But I have to be in the mood - be willing to cry again; it's so sadly sweet.

Fun fact! The actor doing the voice of Moana's dad (the Chief) is the same actor that plays Boba Fett!

Fan theory, the Chicken is either a God or Demi-God that has been punished into the shaped and mental capacity of a really stupid chicken. The exact same chicken has been the exact same age since Moana was a baby, add in the fact it should be dead a dozen times over yet it lives.

Definitely Tangled first. Not only is it older than the other two, so it should be watched first. It's also a really good movie

If you're even a little bit interested in anime, I think you might really enjoy the movie Tokyo Godfathers! It takes place between Christmas and New Year's, and I end up re-watching it almost every year. It's about three homeless people who find an abandoned infant on Christmas Eve and try to reunite her with her mother; it's incredible and sweet and funny and has a *very* strong English dub if you'd prefer that over subtitles. As for other Disney films, I'd really love to see you react to Hunchback of Notre Dame or Hercules if you've never seen them before... And Emperor's New Groove is also hilarious!

I agree with you. This movie is a 10 out of 10! Gore and all - btw - Demi Moore deserves an Oscar for her performance!
