At first glance this looks like it would be a good outdoor knife but upon further study I would like to see this in High Carbon 1095 instead for its superior toughness and ease of sharpening in the field. Hard D2 can be fairly brittle and chipped edges and snapped tips are common with impact type usage like splitting fire sticks or prying. D2 is not bad but it’s not the best for a knife that will see “hard use”.

I believe it largely depends on your hunting style. I often find myself on extensive BLM land, hunting deer and birds. Additionally, I load and store my gun in these locations for easy access while driving, keeping it ready and not in my lap. This is simply my specific use case.

You get what you pay for. I bought this. Went to the shooting range. At 100 yards it reads 93 yards. At 200 yards it reads 175 yards. Maybe this thing is useful for archery hunters. We hunt in fairly open country, and it's not uncommon to take a 300 yard shot. Not sure how useful this is for me.

If you use it in a tree. Do you have to do math? Or is it dead on? So if a deer is 20 yards away and you use it in a tree will it till you that it is at 20 yards?
@Comm_Quest2 жыл бұрын
It's a straight line so there isn't math. If a deer is 20 yards on the ground or in a tree from you that's how far. The only thing you have to consider is your projectile and how that will react when shooting from a tree.
