At last !! No matter how pathetic this sounds, fro first seeing this film, I think from the early '80's, I've finally !! deciphered, and so understood two references which had no part of my life or experiences, so suggested nothing to me: "..a cup of tea, please dear, and ten ' OLIVIER ' ": cigarettes !! Even if I'm the last to know, it's only because I was having a disagreement with somebody on Wikipaedia recently about the brand of which I'd only just heard, that I'm now able put the two together:after over forty years. Also, because of the quality of this audio, I've finally heard the proprietor whose name I've forgotten say "...artists...", when it cuts to Hancock, after muttering "...Chelsea..."; allowing me to understand the hilarious misconception he makes between Hancock's irasibilitu and the supposed temperamental nature of Chelse artists; completely ignoring the fact that he's sitting there wearing pinstripe trousers and arrived wearing a bowler hat; the most un-avant garde costume he'd possibly seen that day. All whilst the sounds of the now irresistible new society fills the room with its twang to a no doubt disgusted Hancock.

Different times as Alan would say. Of course you can’t make that joke today, it has expired. Same as some jokes from 1920s of 1850s. They don’t match our current society’s ethos, the same as many ideas /values etc of those times. But it doesn’t take away anything from Spike being a genius.

How come Grandpa Spencer wasn’t seen in the episode before this one? The episode before this was one was Motorbike (AKA King Of The Road) where Frank ends up in court, but Grandpa was first seen in the episode before that one which was Men As Women after arriving in England from Australia.

In the 7th grade my friend and I went to the Saturday movie just to pass the time. We were so entranced by the actress and story that we stayed to watch it twice. Our parents were worried sick about why we were gone so long. Only as an adult did I realize that the movie was Roman Holiday, and that mesmerizing actress was Audrey Hepburn!

I had the good fortune to drive and look after Eric when he was appearing at the Tyne theatre Newcastle in 2001 , I spent a week with him and took him back and forth from where he was staying in Northumberland . He was an utter gentleman and paid me the ultimate compliment by telling me I was the best driver he ever had , it was a pleasure and I have treasured every moment I spent with him . He sent me the books he wrote and never forgot to send me a Xmas card up until the day he sadly died . Wonderful man !!
