Hello, what type and size of socket did you use to remove the screws from the connecting rods?

I think I used a 5/16 with an extension.

I too could not find a local engine rebuild shop that would hone my Mercury 240efi Sportjet engine block. I think for the same reason too. I ended up dingle-ball honing it myself and just using it. Luckily worked out okay as the engine runs fine. Good luck!

That's great. Where did you get it from? I think I might have to do the same thing. How was your compression after you put it all back together

I’m going to do the exact same thing. I bought a 2002 Seadoo Utopia and it has the same engine and when you tested the bottom two cylinders they were both operating at about 50 psi. Thanks for taking the time to do this, I too have a service manual and expect similar problems. Previous owner didn’t know what happened.

Yea, no problem. I'm happy I can help. I made a complete teardown on this mercury 240 efi m2 v6. There's not a lot of people doing videos on this at all.

Nice walk-around details video of the Seadoo Islandia. Many features I didn't know about. I have the Seadoo Challenger with the same Mercury 240efi M2 sportjet engine. You are right about the Mercury 210(carb)/240(efi) engines and their plastic oil pump drive gear on the crankshaft breaking causing massive engine damage (no oil). Sadly too common as these boats get older. Good luck with your engine rebuild.

Yes, thanks, man.I really appreciate it.I actually started making these videos.Because I realized no one else was talking about the engine and a lot of these boats are ending up in the junkyard.Because no one really know what to do with there's not much on youtube. I was just looking at a couple of challenges. Those boats are really nice.

Yea, so when i got it, there was low compression in cylinders 3 and 6. The trailer was also bad .but 8 only paid 700 as is😅

Wow i was looking at ur videos last year when i bought my 00 seadoo speedster w/240 merc m2efi. I had issues but fixed em all
