Ein Freund von mir hat sich ein neues Motorrad gekauft. Neulich hat er es mir vorbei gebracht, ich sollte das Ding mal fahren um ihm zu sagen was ich davon halte. Ein paar Tage später rief er mich an, erste Frage, wie war es? Antwort: tja hm, nix war. Ich habe sie nicht zum Laufen gebracht, habe den Kickstarter gesucht aber leider nicht gefunden. LIEBEn Gruß

Never found it a problem what with the decompression lever and the sighting window. But then again , I didn't live in a cold climate.

uch gut, aber der Yam trauere ich nach. ann einen Gülelpumpe D1978 hätte ich sie kaufen sollen. Wurde dann eine Güllepumpe .

Xt550 smoothest kick starter ever. I could ignite it with my hand.

You could start both of these with the hand too, if they are properly tuned/adjusted. Hahaha, just talking about this makes the bottom of my foot hurt from the memories. In my experience, it's technique, nothing more. Practice makes perfect, I found a good strong kick right through the full range of the stroke works better than a half-hearted one. Jump in the air if you need to, but come down on that lever with all the force you can generate. You will be able to find TDC through experience, after a while it becomes something you can feel pretty clearly. You don't need to watch the kick indicator window... Prime it, starts first kick (actual intended kick with ignition switched on). Oh, and leave the throttle out of it, that is how you invite kickback.

Schöne Moppeds, ich hatte beide in meinen Anfängen, erst ne XT u. später ne SR. Hab sie leider nicht behalten, wer rechnet denn damit, dass das Jahrzehnte später solche Kultbikes werden . Toll, dass ihr Jungen diese ursprünglichen Motorräder zu schätzen wisst!

Ich komme aus einer Zeit, als die XT und die SR "Newcomer" waren. Ich habe viele Motorräder besessen, aber bei SR und vor allem der XT werde ich immer noch unruhig, im positiven Sinne. Die XT war einfach mein Traum, als ich "nur" Mofa fahren durfte. Ich denke, sowas prägt einen. Tolle Mopeds!

Great kickstarting action. Gotta yz490 and its a real pig to start. Gotta really stand high and hard when you kick I always hold the clutch in too when I start it. Really satisfying when it finally starts after kicking the hell out of it for 5 mins.

@@gareginnzdah3978 yeah, two strokes are not that hard to start if they are properly tuned, two kicks with ignition off, choke on if cold. Ignition on, one solid kick through the entire stroke of the kicker, and voila, kx500 started... I also own a 690cc bored and stroked XT500, which takes a little bit of effort to bring to life. But it's fucking great fun. Has torque like nothing else I've ever ridden.

@@gareginnzdah3978 not even the KX500 pulls quite like it, yeah the over rev on a 2 stroke is cool and all, but it is a lot slower in terms of sheer top speed speed. It takes the XT in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, but then the tables turn. 4th on the XT, and I dissappear.

Real Great kickstarting my yz 490. A real pig to start too. Really gotta jump high and hard to get it started. Sometimes 20 hard kicks to get it going. Clutch in and pound that kickstart hard is how I do it.

wie groß bist du? hatte bis april ne z750 und die war mir zu schwer und träge und bin iwie auf eine XT500 gestoßen, ganz was anderes. Bin allerdings lauchig und 1,75m. Die XT wiegt soweit ich das gelesen habe garnichtmal soviel.

Love the challenge kickstarting my YZ 490. It's a real pig to start too..Gotta really jump high and hard to get it started. Love the feeling kicking the shit out of it when I m having a hard time getting it to start.
