Let's not pretend comics haven't always been heavily political. You started with X-Men of all things, then went into Star Wars ffs. If you have problems with it, you're going to have to construct particular critiques rather than whining about it being political.

Not gonna lie. I’ve dabbled in graphic novels for a while and this past year started digging through a lot of the old EC Comics and Warren stuff like Tales from the Crypt, Creepy, and Eerie. Some of the stories might be a little dated, but I love them so far. Many of the tales are character or situation focused, and while there may be subtle commentary woven into some of them, they’re not all politically charged. I watch movies and shows, read, and seek out forms of entertainment for escapism, not to constantly be reminded of the nonsense I can simply turn on the news to see. So it was really aggravating when the first issues of two new horror anthologies released this past few months claiming to be inspired by these old series I’m falling in love with only to be filled with more tired political issues. I’m glad I’m getting into the game late because I’d much rather read all the older issues, which told stories instead of pushed agendas. I wanted warm and fuzzy entertainment and instead I got the 6 o’ clock news.

Modern Characters drag heroes down to "our" level (aka the writer's low standards and not normal people's standards) rather than inspire people to rise up to a hero's level. Modern woke people want to feel like good people without doing any of the work to actually be good people. I was a huge Batman fan! DC got more of my money than anything else, lately it’s been indies and Kickstarters. These comics have had so much heart and story that I have never looked back. The prices are steep per issue but atleast I know the money is going to the hardworking creators and not the company that doesn’t give a shit about
