FYI.. try starting your gen without chock, when using propane the choke is bypassed altogether and serves no purpose other than when using gas.. the regulator has a safety feature with a huge pressure change will throttle the output pressure , some bbq’s have a similar feature also built in their regulator. let me know on the results starting without the choke, thanks

The DR Walk behind blower makes it to where you DO NOT NEED TO WALK BACKWARDS AND DRAG IT IN ONE DIRECTION the DR BLOWER CHANGES DIRECTION AND HAS 180 DEGRESS air flow at up to 200 mph. Left, right or anywhere in between. It also has vertical air flow up to 50 degrees. I'm getting the self-propelled model with electric start. The brake system is an accessory, but I plan on getting that as well, so I don't go running down a hill to catch the blower. This will be our third DR piece of equipment we will be buying. We have a chipper that does up to 4-inch branches/small trees, and two DR trimmers, one has the beaver blade on it and the other has just string. Both are self-propelled and both have electric starts. All of our lawn equipment gets NON-ETHONAL gas, (93). We also own two Toro "commercial grade" walk behind lawn mowers and I bought a 2002 John Deere Gator for my husband, he loves it, takes the chipper around the yard and holds all his equipment in the back. I am 66 years old, and my husband is 69 years old, and we bought three lots and put them together to make about 2 acres. He's retired now, and we do all our yard work except for the BIG old hard wood trees. I don't care what you say about DR, as long as you keep up with your equipment and put non-ethanol gas in them and know how to work on engines, things like that, you'll have no problems. I will spend $2,000.00 on a blower that doesn't make me pull it backwards. I don't buy cheap; you get what you pay for...I've had everything for about six years now. It's all about up keep.

Sounds like a good testimonial for DR equipment. I’ve heard it’s a good company. I solved the problem of pushing my leaf blower. I mounted it to the rear of my garden tractor which was my intention all along. I’ve included a link to my video about it and I’ve got another one on the way. Thanks for watching Custom Leaf Blower kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHeTipxuiM6em9U

In addition, There is also a safety mechanism in the propane tank to keep liquid from coming out vs gas. The bottle needs to be set in the vertical position when using- never on its side. Also, never use copper tubing to plumb propane lines - you will go boom sooner or later. Propane dissolves copper tubing/pipe. One of the reasons you don't store propane in your house is if all the gas is released and mix with air and ignites it has the same amount of kaboom of about 770 sticks of dynamite. If you don't believe me ask your local fire Chief.

Opening the valve on the propane tank too quickly causes the regulator to close-off about 60% of the pressure. This is part of the design to avoid dumping propane into the air because of a damaged hose.
@BGWenterprises11 күн бұрын
The problem is related to the tank overfill prevention device. . It also has a fail safe to limit flow if there is no limit on tank output. . The bigger the volume filled on first opening the tank valve, the more likely it is to have the problem. 0.01c

im having the same issues with my champion generator while running on propane. but when i put gas in it. runs like a champ. so im thinking regulator issues.. ive run my generators for thousands of hours. no issues with the propane until recent. i hooked up a 500 gallon propane to my generator and now some change inperformance. im thinking the tank regulator is adjusted tooo low and so its not pushing enough pressure through to keep up with demand. it runs fine at idle with no problem running around 150 to 200 watts on propane.. im a low electric use. keeps my generator from too much wear and tear. anyway. the regulator at the generator might need a 5 min reset / unhook ... i learned that today on my propane cabinet heater when i goodled for info so small appliance regulators dont have pressure set screw. but there is one on my big regulator at my big tank. tomorrow im going to dial that up. and one more thing. if your running small tanks. the emptier it gets the less pressure your working with i run into pressure problems in the winter cold.. cant use the whole tank. just most of it is available..

I haven’t had any trouble yet with low tank. I’ve run a tank completely empty using the generator and also haven’t had any problems in cold weather but that doesn’t mean I won’t in the future. Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching.

As dumb as it may sound I believe this gentleman experienced the same frustration as I did using propane fuel. Then I learned (thru KZbin) that opening the tank valve s l o w l y can make a difference allowing the proper amount of gas to pass thru to the generator. No mention of this in the starting instructions. Thanx to the YT community. 👍

I can give you another tip for using and storing the generator if you want to or need to run it on gasoline. Just like you already did with the propane, the gasoline tank has a shutoff valve. Turn it off and let it run until it dies. This will empty the carburetor of gasoline and stops the deposits from forming. I have a portable generator for emergencies because I live in the country, every 6 to 8 months I run it for 20 to 30 minutes. So knock on wood i have never had issues starting and running it. Good luck !!!
@PleasantValleyOutdoors17 күн бұрын
I also have a portable backup generator that’s about 20 years old. I run it every few months and run the carburetor dry. Never had an issue. One of the reasons I use propane in the Champion is I don’t want gasoline on the back of the camper in case of a rear end collision. Thanks for watching

I installed a tri-fuel carburetor on my UST GG5500 and I was having running issues similar to yours. Mine would start when I turned the propane off only for a few secs then quit after I turned the fuel back on. I had an adjustable regulator and when I heard about the slow opening of the propane can, I backed my regulator down to 1-2 lbs. then open it further til it ran right. Sometimes I could only open it a little further because it would sputter. Other times I could open it all the way, and viola, perfect. If you leave the regulator adjusted down low, eventually the cans pressure is reduced and the generator will run bad until you open the regulator a little bit more. Sometimes that sweet spot is hard to find. But keep looking it's there. It's all goes back to the propane exchange instead of filling and keeping your own bottle. Those exchanges can act differently every time.

Gas grills have the same issue. Its the new tanks. they have a safety valve in case of a hose fail. a surge of flow will draw a stopper into the valve. close it off for a couple of minutes then open it slow. and the stopper returns to the normal position.

There's a little ball in it for overflow protection and yes it is a thing. Thankfully you figured it out and now you got a backup.

This is how EVERY PRESSURE REGULATOR FOR PROPANE WORKS. I figured this out 31 years ago when I was 12 years old operating a gas grill cooking myself a steak. You can hear the diaphragm snap shut if you open the valve too quickly. Leaving the regulator to sit for several minutes or bleeding all the pressure off and opening it slowly resets it. This is to prevent a full speed evacuation of the tank if there is a sudden large leak like a hose being cut in two.
@Jim3717619 күн бұрын
You can have a problem filling the propane tank too, attendant needs to open the valve slowly. I've found the problem is the newer valves they put in the tank, not the regulator. Open it fast and it doesn't work.

Make sure the propane tank valve is closed. Disconnect the propane hose from the generator.Unscrew the hose and regulator from the tank. Reconnect the regulator with hose firmly onto the propane tank. Reconnect the propane hose to the generator. ------- VERY SLOWLY Open the propane tank valve. Pull choke - start generator - close choke . This makes sure the propane tank leak safety (inside the tank) is not locked close and makes sure the propane regulator (that comes with the generator) on the hose does not get hit with a SURGE of pressure that throws the regulator on the hose out of wack.
@PleasantValleyOutdoors22 күн бұрын

@@PleasantValleyOutdoors do you know what a choke does? It adds more gasoline because on the cold intake the gasoline condenses and doesnt reach the engine for a proper combustion. Propane doesnt condense so you dont need a choke.
