The guitar that breaks through at 0:43 is very reminiscent of the intro to Def Leppard's song White Lightning.

I found this ending very interesting, so I tried to reframe the ending a little bit, referring to both the endings of In Water and Stillness. I really just hope that you guys will find new perspectives on their love. James slowly drove closer to the lakeside. For a moment, he stopped, his heart heavy and filled with many questions. He could only think about the decision in front of him. If he had to end everything, along with Mary's body, he didn't know why. He just knew that it was an unavoidable solution. He couldn't escape anymore, but living was no longer necessary for him. '' Suddenly, he felt a gentle touch from behind him-Mary's hand lightly touching his face. It was as if the questions in his mind were being answered by her in a wordless melody. She spoke quietly, "I want you to live on... But if you have made up your mind, I will accept it." He thought for a moment. Amidst the tears that began to flow, he turned to ask her with a trembling voice, "Then... Will you wait for me?" Mary didn't answer immediately. A gentle smile appeared on her face. She leaned against his face and replied in a soft but firm voice, "I will wait and go with you until the end." The answer was profound and filled with mutual understanding. Seeing that she was ready to stand by his side no matter what, the emptiness that had occupied him began to fade away. He felt the warmth fill his heart again. The scene cuts to the moment the car door opens, the sound of slow footsteps, and Mary being lifted out of the car before ending. The moment James is touched by Mary again, it is as if the two of them have spent their last peaceful time together. She does not try to stop him, but rather lets him make his own decision, which shows the deep love and understanding between them. James asking Mary to wait for him at the end shows that he needs time to accept and perhaps move on with his life, even if it is not perfect. It is like he himself is torn between letting go and wanting to live a meaningful life. And the sound of the car door at the end-not knowing whether he will drive into the water or get out of the car-makes this ending ambiguous and opens up the possibility for the players to interpret it according to their own feelings. It's a scene that leaves hope, sadness and acceptance at the same time. The ending of Stillness is like the opposite of in water. In In Water, James is willing and willing to sacrifice everything to be with Mary again, even if it means risking his own life. But in the ending scene that you think of, we see another side of it: Mary's sacrifice for James. She understands how much guilt and suffering he must bear, and she is ready to "stay with him until the end" to support his decision, whether he chooses to leave with her or continue living. The most important thing in my interpretation of the new ending is that this time it is not a decision made solely by James's desires. On the contrary, the ending scene in water shows the decision of James alone, which can be interpreted in many ways, such as escaping from the pain or letting go of his own thoughts without considering anything else. The fact that we do not see Mary's perspective at that time makes the ending of in water seem more like James' personal decision than a positive joint decision. But in the ending scene that I interpreted, the cooperation and mutual support that can be seen from Mary accepting James' decision no matter what it is, helps make the love between the two more complete. Because it is not just a decision made in one's mind, but rather an acceptance and support of each other in every way that both characters want to go together. Even though it's a little bit funny that it's a fantasy from James lol But even so, it still helps to confirm James's perspective on Mary. Mary's acceptance of James's decision, it reflects the open-mindedness and acceptance of the decisions that may occur from both parties - both James and Mary are willing to accept each other's decisions unconditionally. In this sense, James is not only thinking about himself and what he will decide in the future, he is also aware of the possibility that Mary may want something in her way, and he is ready to accept that. It's not just doing it for Mary, but showing understanding and respect for each other's right to follow their own needs, even though in the end he can no longer know the real Mary's needs anymore, at most in her letter. I want to see every ending as a reflection of the real characters, not that choosing one ending over another is not true to who they are. I'm so glad there's the Stillness ending because it allows me to interpret it to show that if there is a situation where James and Mary really do decide together, it's a very complete picture. While it also fulfills the desires of both people, even if it's not at this time when the story has just passed. Whoever reads it, you are my homie. "The dialogue I wrote between James and Mary was my own twist haha.''

Watched this episode today again. The first time I watched it was when it aired live and I was still watching the show in real time. I have a new appreciation for Eastman and his philosophy than I did all those years ago. I even just bought The Art of Peace so I can read it. Thank you TWD for this.

It’s such an amazing theme for someone who values the lives of predators and mass murderers so much that he has no problem watching people be extorted and enslaved (under the Saviors) or murdered (Wolves, Saviors, Vultures, etc.) He saves those who take from others less fortunate and demands that the victims never seek TRUE justice.

The soundtrack that showed us that this was a *very different*, yet new era in The Walking Dead. Far long into the apocalypse and far away from all the familiar locations like Atlanta, prison etc with new places and people.
