This song was supposed to be like a Prince inspired ballad. If any of you have ever seen Purple Rain the move that she did at the end where she gyrated in the air then dropped came from Prince when he performed Darling Nikki. If you listen you will see how similar Darling Nikki and Promise sound.

For the people who compare to Aaliyah, don’t forget Ciara uses her head voice when dancing and Aaliyah mainly used chest voice. It’s about what’s easier for you.

Aaliyah used her lower register …, I’m a big fan of Aaliyah I can tell you she definitely sung better then this and is more vocally gifted in certain performances you can hear it

thats because most singers can't stand out with a group of dancers around them... only a few artist out today can go just as hard as their back up dancers, that's why i respect ciara as a artist, not just anybody can do what she does

She Fell off because her label didn't support her. Those last two she put out should've been #1's like Goodies and Evolution. But Hey, she back now. So we'll see how she does. Always a fan.
