I'm not a sporty person, but I would have liked to hear about some of the other factors that would have to go right to make this work. Maybe it's just fundamental stuff, but you'd have to be stepping forward for this move, it clearly couldn't be used defensively. Blocking that kick low almost seemed like a plus, allowing you time to get into the crouch, but I don't know how that feels in practice lol. Also, it seems like your partner was fighting non-mirrored or what I would call left-handed, jabbing with the right while you jabbed with your left, which maybe made it harder? Just some thoughts.
@WarcatCombatFitnessАй бұрын
For someone who isn't sporty those are pretty good observations! 1. Yes, I would have to be moving forward. How it "should" work or rather, work optimally would be when the opponent reacts to something high and they woild put their guard up for me to sneak low. This was hard for me to do because in kickboxing the high guard isn't used as much since we can use kicks. 2. The kick could have been worse on my end if it was done full force lol. BUT, at that range he likely wouldn't have thrown a hard kick so I was relatively safe. 3. Yes, my opponent switched stance. He's typically orthodox (right handed) but I trained him to be a switch hitter, so he'll go southpaw (lefty) at times. And yes, that dis make it a bit of a challenge as it was hard for me to time it earlier. Thanks for the input!!

Big part of Aoki's look away is a set up. Pointing and saying "Hey what's that" is a more deliberate and obvious trick, without any prior set up. In Aoki's case he took several rounds to get into opponent's head and in a crucial moment, right after parrying a left jab, when he was about to land a serious hit, he stops. And whatever was happening out there was clearly more important than this opportune moment, a match, or perhaps championship entierly. It wasn't really a choice to look. He had to see what was going on.
@anonimzwx3 ай бұрын
i think aoki can use it because he during the whole battle, do a lot of things to make that happend, first he used a lot of dirty tricks to break oponent focus and works with his mind, also it uses that in the best possible moment. But tbh that technique is just a joke
