Yes, I'm aware of the "iinfluences" of the one over the many within the community of artists; however, in this video I am addressing influencers above the musician class because of a situation I'm observing elsewhere. My hope is that other organizations aren't suckered by pretentious novices in control of the livelihoods and careers of real professionals working in orchestras. In addition, board members who are inactive or led by the nose by charleton executives without asking questions or investigating facts for themselves should leave their institutions or get to work. A well structured organization with fair, objective and transparent protocols with professionals of good moral character in upper management, including the board, is capable of dealing with issues of the day in a fair manner. But when innocence is harmed (victim or accused) and artistic quality jeopardized as a result, that only proves my point ....the organizational leadership has failed. That said, I should clarify that it takes only one influencer or individual in power to ruin any organization, especially if the silent majority allow it. Also, anyone in the workplace who feels unjustly treated should seek professional legal advice and representation. Finally, I have no sympathy for men who abuse or violate women. Any real man knows where the limit is and should never make it possible for the accusation to exist. As for bullying and coercion to threaten or ruin a colleague between any genders involved, same deal....no tolerance. Abusers and bullies have a God complex which can only be addressed by a wider community and defended against with irrefutable evidence. Lastly, a victim should never become the villain they hate , albeit a popular cinematic plot for producers of series and movies. Every individual should be willing to help a fellow human being in need and exercise restraint from harming others. This is why I believe that people in power who are unable to help from above should leave....

Brings back memories. Our HS marching band performed this. Don't remember exactly, but it's written in something like 7/8 time. Whatever it is, non-standard. Made for interesting marching.

As one who has been treated badly by colleagues, not the least influential of which was the self-appointed judge and critic of us all, Katherine Needleman, here are my concerns: “normal institutions,” by which I assume you mean our workplaces, are not courts. Most workplaces are incorporated these days and as such are commercial in nature. Also as such, I am not certain our employers ought to be exercising their haphazard understanding of jurisprudence against their employees. I believe this is why they have lawyers to advise them and why challenging disputes are assigned to an Arbitrator. The problem with this practice of settling out of courts (always done to “save money,” as if this is more valuable than protecting unalienable rights) is that we are denied due process, which is to say, a trial by a jury of our peers. In such a trial, the jury MUST BE UNANIMOUS to conclude a guilty verdict. Anything less results in a verdict of innocent. So you can see that this preserves freedom as much as possible. What is important to understand is that Human Resources is a tool for management to control employees, it is not a protection for workers nor is it a vehicle for justice. YOU are literally a resource for them to profit off of, and they manage you accordingly. To an idealist such as you and I are, Darrin, it appears as supreme incompetence on the part of management not to handle things fairly or even well. I used to think we had rights in the workplace, that the protections of the constitution apply everywhere. But this is not how things work in a world of corporations, where corporate governments dictate what all other corporate entities can and cannot do. Our legal system, the UNIFORM COMMERCIAL CODE/MARITIME LAW is not literally law but rather the color of law, the appearance of law. And this itself has become a very arbitrary thing. But what I really want to say is that it became obvious to me our collective bargaining agreements erode the Laws of the Land as are outlined in and exemplified by our constitutions. If we want protections of our hard-earned, hard-won careers against false accusations of bullies and orchestra “influencers” then we need to stop giving away our individual rights which God provided to each and every one of us at birth. Giving orchestra committees or union representatives the right to act as law enforcement, judge, jury, or God, on the question of whether we rightfully belong or deserve to be in our orchestras in light of some personal dispute with a colleague or even in a case where we THINK a crime has been committed, without proof we cannot KNOW anything for certain. Even a Judge’s opinion is not law. So I ask, what is the opinion of a lay person?? Who are we to be judging these men and women of the NY Philharmonic, of the Calgary Philharmonic? In this world centered around money and economics, how does one pursue Life, Liberty, and Happiness without a job, without shelter, without access to medical care, without transportation? If our jobs can be ripped from some of us on mere suspicion, or emotional discomforts, for example, where is the protection for the rest of the group? Are you one thin line away from ruination yourself? Let the proof of fact fall to those who are qualified to ascertain it. These facts cannot be found from a trauma-based perspective such as what we are reading on all too often on social media. What we fail to realize is that the rights of one are the rights of all. They apply equally to all individuals or they apply to none. If anyone thinks that judging the failings of another places them on higher moral ground, well, it is only a matter of time before someone can come along and misjudge you as well, for as you have sown so shall you reap. We need to learn how to support each other instead of falling for this narrative of fearing one another. My advice is practice unconditional love instead.

Fanfare for Uncommon Women? Seriously? They can't just let it be can they? They have to try and preach equality everyone and everything regardless of our millions of years of evolution. Okay, so we now have a female component to the original (and best) Fanfare for the Common Man. Are all the women happy now? Are all the PC apologists in the world happy now? Can you come out of your safe spaces now? Do you need a concrete milkshake to harden up? Besides, the original Fanfare for the Common 'MAN' was a representation of all mankind... that also included women. I guess now y'all wanna Fanfare for the Common Human... oh wait, that has the word 'man' in it. The PC feminine police are gonna spank my botty. Also, the conductor is the manliest looking woman I've seen in a while. Looks like men still make the best conductors🤣What did Solti say back in the day... 'Women make lousy conductors, they swing their bums around too much and it distracts the audience from the music' 😆 Anyway, I've been inspired, I'm going to write 'Fanfare for the Very Uncommon Trans'! It will be all inclusive of the LGBTIQABC123DoReMiXYZ (I think that covers everything/everyone, we have to be inclusive) with a special shout out to transexual souls. It will feature bitonality, pan-diatonicism, quartal harmony and absolutely NO MELODY whatsoever. It will be inspired by moans, whinging, mental illness, an impossible never-ending quest for equality AND most importantly... an unjust sense of entitlement. Like Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman, Fanfare for the VERY Uncommon Trans will sound like shit, be embarrassingly unmemorable and will be forgotten and unheard like a fart on a windy day. It WILL however generate considerable hype and praise from the pretentious gits who fund this rubbish and perpetuate the cycle whilst the Hoi Polloi all nod in collective agreement... but only out of courtesy because deep down, they all know it's crap too. So stay tuned for the premier of Schon's 'Fanfare for the VERY Uncommon Trans'. Gay as AIDS and guaranteed to make you squirm like a tapeworm in the bum. Coming to a public restroom near you!

@@sophelet I’m a pianist. Piano playing is much more difficult than waving a stick. There are countless male conductors that are far more competent than this one, but they don’t get work because they aren’t a politically-fetishized minority group. If orchestras think they are going to sell more tickets with this kind of tripe, they are sorely mistaken.
