for one sec i thought "is it parkour down? because that has been in the games since AC1" then i saw the description and went "ooooh controlled descent. Yeah its a cool mechainc" i do think the best mechanic is ejects (from AC1 to Rev), but this one is still cool when it works

unity had really solid parkour mechanics, and it was certainly the most visually pleasing in the series. I still prefer the altair/ezio parkour because of it's freedom, but ubisoft could've built on unity's system to make it the best ever. instead they decided to dumb it down for syndicate and then get rid of it entirely with the boring 'hold to climb' mechanic in games following it.

people are blinded by nostalgia. Played through unity recently and i thought wow this game is the best ac game oat, then i played through practically every other assassin. Played a lil bit of mirage and then returned to unity. God damn this game is awful combat is very good, but so unresponsive its crazy, also crazy amount of glitches including game not even loading in 4k despite it saying it does, story isnt anywhere as good as for example 2 or revelations. Unity is the best ac game if its ur first ac game, graphics are good and parkour looks flashy. But gameplay and story is awful

The parkour system in this game is pretty clunky at times and it definitely leaves a lot to be desired in terms of animations and momentum, but goddamn can it be fast and consistently enjoyable to use
