To me what separates good song writers from great song writers is simply that great ones understand the energy that music creates and know how to harness it and unleash it for the appropriate audience. That innate sense of how the audience is feeling hearing the music is something you can’t teach you can only learn. Lindsey definitely has that sense.

Any aspiring song writer should look at this song as an example that you don’t even have to put too many complex lyrics and guitar riffs into a song to make it great. If the rhythm clicks everything else usually falls into place and this song’s rhythm is unparalleled. Maybe Jerry Reed’s East Bound and Down for Smokey and the Bandit is on that level but nothing else I’ve heard.
