For $150 it better not spill a drop. The problem with those double oil/gas cans is when you're exhausted & put oil in the gas tank or vice versa.

Luckily I’ve never had that happen yet. I also paid $70 for the tank about 4 years ago. Inflation is out of hand.

About the red cloud collective pants I totally agree that they are a little bit tight. I had to go up from a 36 which is my normal waste to a 38. Also, I hem them before I washed them and they shrunk a lot.

Your breaking would have been a lot faster and easier if you started oiling day 1. Try the olbanoffs oil for break in, the boots will take many coats. Once they get full of oil the wax goes on top.

Why wouldn’t the boot makers suggest that then? They suggest using rubbing alcohol mixed with water in a spray bottle.

Don’t hold your breath on that. Iron Heart has the reputation already. I just got back from Japan & visited their place there. They’re a little cheaper there. My buddy owns Self Edge. Is there a reason you don't go with the 04 light bar and 050 chain? They are supposed to cut much faster. Does the standard bar/chain last longer, or is it stronger? Thanks.
@evergreenorganicsАй бұрын
I run Tsumura light bars if I’m running longer bars. For a 20” bar it doesn’t make much of a difference to me. I like the wider 063 chains. I guess because I am usually running long bars and like that wider full chisel chain.

I've changed my mind on USA made after visiting the Filson Seattle Flagship store (back when they made things there). The employees were all Asian, I'm sure they were American, but it does not seem to be a job that a demographic mix of Americans want to do. The sewing work doesn't pay that well, and the employees had to commute into Seattle. Your demographic cross section of American workers is not good at sewing anymore and it's not something they're going to do for a 35 year career. The US employee in 2024 is good at logistics, customer service etc. I'd rather we focus on those jobs in the US, and utilize countries who are still experts in manufacturing to make clothes and other products. I hope Filson pays an above average wage to their manufacturing teams overseas.
@evergreenorganics2 ай бұрын
Considering on their website they only offer $16 an hour to their current USA sewers, I highly doubt they are paying their overseas workers very well.
@Mikedenton5412 ай бұрын
@@evergreenorganics There ya go. I don't feel a moral obligation to buy USA made products when they are paying $16/hr. Quality is probably better where there are tens of thousands of individuals capable and trained to do that work in another country.
@evergreenorganics2 ай бұрын
@@Mikedenton541the problem is that Filson values profit above all else. There are plenty of companies who make extremely high quality American made clothes (who also pay their sewers a competitive wage). Customers who bought Filson paid their insane prices because they cared about where their clothing is manufactured. Of course you can find quality garments made overseas, but only recently did Filson even start becoming transparent about shipping production overseas.

I am starting to feel like RCC pants are not worth it. Just bought my second pair and I think I made a costly mistake. Last year I bought their waxed pants and they were so long, I have absolutely no idea why they cut them so long. I had to cut both legs and try to get them at the right length. I messed them up, should have went to a seamstress. That sucks! They cost me around $500 CAD. Never bought a pair of pants that expensive. This time I decided to give them another chance and bought the regular black canvas pants to replace the my Carhartts. Again, they are sooo long. Like wtf? Also the canvas looks a bit thinner than the Carhartt. Which is a shame considering the crotch on my Carhartts always ripped after 6-8 months. Now I find myself with almost $1k worth of pants, two pairs, which I don’t think I will ever wore. They fit weird for an average sized male, bit tight around the thigh, pockets are so tight, legs are roomy and length is ridiculously long
@evergreenorganics2 ай бұрын
I guess the length is so you can cuff the pants but it seems absurd to me that at that price point you can’t simply choose the length of your pants.

I wear the hotshots every day! I did the custom fitting. Nicks did an amazing job. I have a very hard to fit foot. My arch is back further than average and I lift so my calves are larger than average. They built two pairs of boots to get it right at no extra expense to me. After they got the right fit, those measurements were on file. I loved my hotshots so much, I ordered a second pair of insulated ones with a softer vibram (yellow) sole. I wear these elk hunting and all winter. The second pair came to me perfectly built because of the time they spent on the first custom pair. It wasn’t a fast process to get the first ones dialed in, but it’s why we get custom boots. I’ve worn both pairs for over 6 years and will wear Nicks the rest of my life.
