Wow you can tell they've built a boat or two and got their sh.t sorted. Well done.

Wish I pursued alloy boat building instead of boiler making. Bet my hands would still work good. Your guys do good work and your shop looks super clean and efficient. Thanks for the full step by step. These boats in Canada are costing 150-220k now for basic builds. If you want a fully loaded 30 foot king fisher you can expect to see a 600k price tag….😮

The lack of frame depth and intermittent (non-continuous) stringers......a big no if you want a boat that will last, I would barely class this a 'plate' boat, great welding video though.

no wonder the Quintrex range are overpriced 100%....they do shit like this for people.

Still no foam. What a joke. Only meets Inland rivers. Wonder what BS weight you'll stamp on it. Only recently i borrowed a hornet trophy 435, i had some concerns and ended up weighing it at 514kg with no fuel. Supposedly you can put 4 people /400kg in it! By my calculations you would be lucky to have one person with gear or two people without even a fishing rod. So if i took the manufacturer weight and tried to tow this with a Hyundai, cause supposedly your within limits, then have an accident and have everything weighed to find out your over weight! The early hornet I tested wouldn't even meet basic floatation and would sink. I don't actually think Quintrex knows how to perform displacement calculations. When the boats are unbalanced then your centre of bouancy shifts, you guys don't design this in. You only need year 11 physics to work it out. I worked this out after putting my family in this boat with gear at 270kg. We had water lapping in at the top sump plug. We shifted weight forward and slightly improved but not enough for me to launch off the Jetty. I took my family out of the boat and put it back on the trailer. And went and performed my own calculations as described above. These things are a death trap, especially in tropical waters with crocs and large tidal systems up north. I wouldn't by an aluminium boat with a short shaft, the displacement can never meet the design loads with any safety factor greater than 2. Basic floatation safety factor is 5. I'm extremely disappointed that my life and that of my families was compromised because I trusted the build plate. Please anyone reading, make your kids finish year 12, maths & physics is important.

That is the best production method, moving the piece being welded and keeping the welder stationary and comfortable. Gives me ideas !

Damn that's nice welding compared to many small workshops. Especially getting the boat to slide back and forth on rollers and rails for the long welds on the bottom is amazing. A very clean look.

Nice gesture Quintrex but you let yourselves down by fitting that outboard.Surely after all that resto work your bottom line would'nt have suffered too much by fitting a decent motor to the old girl.

I purchased a new 450 Hornet Trophy. Unfortunately the finish of the boat was somewhat disappointing. Misaligned hatch doors and a loose hinge, a massive scrape/gouge behind the rear hatch (appears to be done when installing the hatch), paint work was easily scratched and numerous imperfections in the spray job. When your forking out $36K plus for a tinny, you expect a quality finish. Not quite the `unparalleled quality' as promoted.
