How do you get your ankle to be floppy? Mine is stiff when I shake it around. I can't make it. Just flop around
@taptopiaofficial5 күн бұрын
It can be tricky, and can take time! One idea/trick: Try tensing as much as possible, then consciously relaxing as much as possible. Rinse repeat.

I'm so glad I found this. I have always wanted to tap dance as far back as I could remember. I never had enough confidence, but it was always in my wanting to learn and be good at it. I love to dance freely, and since I have been having trouble walking due to severe back pain and stenosis, there are issues of numbness and strength. I want to do this and learn to do this the best I possibly can. I will practice every single day, and hopefully, I can do something I've always wanted to achieve in something I dreamed of as a small child. I know I will try my best and I know it's going to be very difficult for me with the cards I've been dealt with. This is the most wonderful thing I can possibly acheive with your help. God Bless you and Thank you for sharing this with everyone and me who love to dance 💃 ❤️ 💕

I was wondering for heel drops do you use your calves or do you mostly use your knees? Thank you!
@taptopiaofficial2 ай бұрын
Hey hey! I think I understand your question (it depends on the meaning of the word 'use'), but I'd say the main muscle groups being worked are the quads and the calves 👍 You use the leg in its entirety, in some form or another! 😉 Hope this helps 🙌

Yes it can get a little ouchy! I still feel the burn during warm-ups. Always know the difference between the 'burn' and 'pain', and be sure to stop if ever it doesn't feel right 👍

When i was around 10 yrs old....my school had a play and they had me tap dance. All the other kids in my class hated it and kept talking crap....me too. Until i actually started tapdancing....it...felt....good! Really good! Then the play was over and i stayed thinking about tap dancing and how cool it was for years! But it was not popular and i didnt feel motivated. Now im 37 yrs old and....im ordering a pair of tap dancing shoes. Cant wait! Thanks for the video!

Could one modify normal shoes into tap shoes perchance?
@taptopiaofficial7 ай бұрын
It's certainly possible to do, but you'll likely need the help of a shoemaker who can adjust the sole of the shoes to be hard enough to screw tap plates into 👍

I'm a student of hula (Hawaiian) dancing for almost 10 years (formally started that since March 2014) and ballroom dancing for more than 6 years (formally started in late November of 2017) with almost no experience with tap dancing other than watching others perform. This is so interesting and I'm going to discover how fast I can pick up all the tap dance basics self-paced at home (as a start) as soon as I buy my first pair of tap dance shoes. Thank you for your videos on KZbin. Much appreciated and Happy New Year!!! :)
