I've had one a year now with a month in mexico surf/pier and boat fishing, good reel but heavy Kind of wish I went with the 5000 which is still the size of a 6000 Penn or shimano, but the 6500 saltist holds 500 yards of 50lb braid which I like, just heavy for repeated casting I have it on ann11 foot 5 piece diawa a4dito rated 2 to 6 oz

First off, apologies for what might come off as patronizing ( I hope it doesn't ). Most people won't ever have the luxury of doing what you're doing because they are too busy struggling to exist to start contemplating if there is even a "why" to it. A lot of people your age search for meaning and a lot of them struggle to find it if there's no clear answer. Some turn to religion, some turn away from it. Some become hedonistic, some nihilistic, and some don't bother searching for meaning and just appreciate the fact that they are alive. Based on your previous videos I would be inclined to say that you already had a profound connection with the world around you and this experience will not provide you the enrichment or understanding you're searching for beyond what you already felt. Being inquisitive is a gift but also a curse. It can provide you with moments of awe and wonder throughout your life if you embrace your inquisitive nature and allow it to accompany your thoughts and actions. It can also cripple you into inaction if you allow it to dominate you. Contemplation is not something that deserves your full attention 100% of your time to be an important aspect of your life. Try to recognize that you already had that in your life before this experience. Last, you didn't need to do this for a year...one good peyote/DMT trip would have sorted this all out for you ...

Im a 70 yr old SD native. My dad taught me to fish tuna (albacore) in the 1960s. He had the Barbados, the SD Yacht Clubs 1972 Power Boat winner. Keep in mind that i love sportfishing but -we are overfishing the BF. At this rate, we are going to do what we did to the albacore here if we keep ignoring the FG limits. I recently caught 3 BF in two days. The biggest was on my single speed half day firecracker rod because the tip of my bait stick broke. Took an hour, 5 times around the boat on 20 lb test! It was an awesome experience. Now I have enough meat to last a year, at least. But others caught far more than i did---. Thats not cool. I still want to fish but i dont want to kill them. I have food now vacuum sealed in the freezer. Any more killing by me would constitute "wanton waste" of a resource. Tuna are too beautiful and precious to waste. Im going back out. Im going to use my little rod and sungke speed. I'm going to crimp down the barbs like they do for trout. I need to come up with a de hooker device for the rail. Maybe clip and slide a snaffle bit on a cord down to the hook to pull the hook out? I think the Tomahawk and its skipper, unlike the other boat i fished on last week, would be willing to help me perfect releasing the tuna without terminal tackle hanging out of the tuna's mouth. The come back that "The hook will just rust out" is a cop out. It doesnt rust out. If it does, its not soon enough for me. I wouldnt want a hook in my lip for more than a few minutes. If we treat them with respect, we will have a viable population of BF to pass on to the next generation of fisherman.
