I have them in my small tank by the thousands and just like you made a chamber in the back as the Refugium and they breed in that, my glass is full of them at night, I have 2 mandarins, since I started this I also have a phytoplankton reactor and a copepod culture and I supply my daughter with copepods as she also has a mandarin in her tank at her place so nice a week she comes past picks up a battle with thousands and it has the phytoplankton in the bottle. In my culture I have chaeto there as well and they just keep breeding, if they have heaps of phytoplankton they reproduce like rabbits well way more than rabbits because it’s in tens of thousands. If only I knew about this way back I would have saved myself so much effort with algae etc. Friends that start off I tell them first thing once your tank ammonia has dropped dose the tank with a mixed batch of copepods and phytoplankton way before you introduce livestock and don’t clean a single thing let it all balance out, by the time your ready for livestock your tank has an unbelievable healthy amount already in the tank cleaning for you. Oh I also culture amphipods for the refugium, they will keep you chaeto clean and when they release their young they are just like large copepods and everything eats them

I bought this tank, not knowing what it was and so it was highly suggested that I create this coral reef. I paid someone because I’m a veteran and I have injuries so I paid someone $1000 to come set it up and I mean I see, but the water is murky, I just texted him. He said there’s like some pills or something I can drop in. I’ve only had this for two weeks and he’s not going to be able to so do you have any suggestions?
@RespectTheReefАй бұрын
@@Gerrs824 you paid someone 1000$ dollars to set it up? Did you buy all the stuff on top of that? Or did that include everything like coral, rock, filter media, etc.. I mean it’s going to have a bacterial bloom at the beginning. Which can turn the water murky. You could try carbon. It helps polish the water. Uv sterilizer is a more expensive option but would work much better and has a lot of other benefits. But since it’s so new it’ll eventually clear up. But carbon wouldn’t hurt.

"where's my finger?...oh there it is!" best part of the vido man. made me LOL love IM tanks I have there 200P for a FOWLR focusing angels and butterflies. that said i want to make a man cave/fish room in the basement. was just looking at both the 24 and 60/80 SR AIO I would love to have 2-3 of them and do softie only, meats and maybe SPS I think that would be cool . anyway that tank is fire man keep up the great work.
@RespectTheReefАй бұрын
@@devachapman6315 softie only will be my next tank for sure. Absolutely love softies now. I’m actually thinking about getting rid of the torches and put softies there. Torches are cool but in my overstocked tank they tend to sting everything. I recently added a long tentacle toadstool. So it will need some space. Or I might take a chance and add a bubble tip and hope it doesn’t move. Get the biggest tank you can. I wish I would have went bigger lol. But I got such an amazing deal on the 60. SR 80 would be sick. I think the shallow reef tanks are the way to go. Plus it’s an all in one. Sumps are really cool but the all in ones are so easy. Especially with the Innovative marines. They make every part you could need. I will say the 25 lagoon is an amazing foot print. It looks way bigger than a 25. And all the innovative marine 25 lagoon parts are the mini size so they are about half the cost of the SR60 and 80s. They have only 2 nozzles and take only one pump. So it’s much cheaper to set up. Take a look at my 25 lagoon videos. It looks massive. I wish I would have kept it. But you can buy a brand new 25 lagoon with a pump and filter for like 200$. Best deal for any size tank and any brand in my opinion. Such a steal.

Couple of questions 😎 your mighty jet return pump, what setting you have it set at? Couldn’t see, was a Mp10 wire hanging in front of it 😢 What mode are you running the MP 10 at? Put water in my IM 25 Lagoon last night 😎 going to get some seasoned media from the LFS today ,, Last question 😎 at what point should I be looking to put the Chemi Blue packet into the system, after the tank has cycled or before ?
@RespectTheReefАй бұрын
@@redfish7644 I have the pump up all the way. Mp 10 is up about 3/4 the way up pm the lagoon setting. I wouldn’t worry about chemi pure until you are running into nitrate issues. After cycle and after fish and coral are in the tank. You might not even need it at all. By the way, the flow will be different depending on rock structure and what corals you keep and where. So it best to play with it until it’s flowing the at you think is right. Look at your corals. If they are getting blown around turn it down. Also the placement of your power head will determine how powerful you run it

I could sit and look at your tank all day long. I can’t believe how many different corals you have in your tank. How old is it? My 32 cube is 1 yr old and battling G hair algae now. Also how do you have the mushrooms mounted in the back corner. I love mushrooms and always thought they were a sandbed lower coral rather than up high. @@BH0t8498 I have a video on green hair algae. I think the fact I have so many corals that use the nutrients in the water help me from getting a lot of algae. I upgraded tanks now. But at the time I think it was 2ish years old. Yeah the mushrooms are mounted on a magnetic frag rock I got from BRS. They do great in higher light or low light. To be honest the bright orange ones are a nuisance in my tank. They detach and attach to different parts of the tank and are hard to get rid of. In my experience just about all corals will adapt to a wide range of light settings. As long as it’s within reason. Thank you acans are my favorite as well.

Got my Nicrews last April 30th 2023 installed on opposite sides of the tank, today I was working in the office from home luckily when I heard a crash and a splash and suddenly the 1 dual 100watt Nicrews mounting arm snapped at the base - the cheap plastic bit that holds it to the tank and the entire unit fell luckily on my screen and only got a tiny portion wet. If I had no screen it would have just landed splash in the tank and everything would be fried, got it out and had to mount my new PiXels on the one side until I get the RMS for them - so be warned about Nicrew lights, seem great but I am now waiting for the other side to snap as well :(
